Americans and Brazilians share a global reputation for being plastic surgery obsessed.
Based on data recently released by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS, a partner with RealSelf.com), this appears to be a fair assumption. The US and Brazil led the World in total cosmetic procedures performed last year.

Nearly one-third (32%) of all cosmetic surgery procedures were done in the US and Brazil. Somewhat surprisingly, China, comes in third in the world. In fact, China leads the world in breast implants (222,530 vs 204,516 in the USA) and eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) (175,228 vs 170,202 in the USA).
However, when you consider the cosmetic procedures data on a per capita basis, the picture changes quite dramatically. Suddenly Americans seem to be less of a cosmetic surgery obsessed society. The place where you're most likely to find someone who has undergone plastic surgery is Hungary and South Korea.
