Hi. Im 2 years post op tummy tuck with muscle repair. About 6 months after I developed a hard nodule under my skin. I saw a general surgeon and he said its a suture granuloma and the suture needs to come out. I also contacted my plastic surgeon and he said if the general surgeon removes the suture my muscle repair would be compromised. I dont want that to happen because I spent $36k on my plastics after weight loss. Is my plastic surgeon wrong?
umbilical hernia, 3 cm on the outside I'm told. Size of a grape. about 3.5 DR separation. Surgeon wants to use permanent duramesh sutures. I know it's NOT the same thing at all, but I have a family member who had a horrible hernia repair that was a mesh repair, and it just completely cheese wired inside of her, and she needed multiple revisions because it kept failing. So I don't know the correlation between a suture made out of mesh vs normal permanent suture in TT. Thanks
I had a TT in Jan -Since then I have had 3 hematomas, 2 inpatient hospital stay (13 days between Feb/May), 3 JP drains for almost 2.5 mo & 2nd surg to remove hematoma in Mar. My surgeon has no idea why this keeps happening nor do the hospital doctors. They pump me full of IV antibiotics/pain meds & send me home. I'm less than one month from my last hospital stay & it's happening again. Horrible pain/swelling along midline. Possible reaction to sutures from muscle repair?
How many layers of sutures are recommended for an abdominoplasty? Ive had a few consultations and different surgeons had different recommendations. One has said they only do 1 layer of stitching, this doesnt seem very substantial? What is considered best practice? Im referring to the muscle repair not the external incision.
After a lot of reading, it seem that permanent (non-dissolvable) sutures are commonly used internally when repairing the abdominal muscles in tummy tucks, often a form of nylon based on what I'm reading. This makes me kind of anxious: do they tend to hold up for life? What happens if one breaks? Does the risk of them breaking go down as time passes - or is it less of an issue if they do break years later because scar tissue forms? And finally, do some have immune responses to permanent sutures?
Hi, I have a small painful nodule which feels like an internal suture at the top of my abdomen after muscle repair. What could it be and how can i get it removed if its a permanent suture used to fix my diastasis during abdominoplasty? It feels like a stitch is protuding from under my skin, like a small nodule.
Hello I had a tummy tuck about a year and a half ago. I have sutures coming out of my stomach. Im having to go to the doctor to have them pulled out. Is that normal?
Had a lipo 360 TT& MR 2 years ago I'm 90 pounds I came out with a very small buldge on the top of my stomach when I pass my hand down I feel like a bump then a dent then it feels hard again but 2 yrs later it just getting very big and I feel like I'm going to snap I've had Ct scans ultrasounds and X-rays everything looks fine inside with my organs Is it the sutures? I doubt it's visceral fat, dr suggested going under again and just removing sutures and doing them again no Skin removal
Hello Doctors. I've had a tummy tuck 6 months ago in Istanbul. It was very agressive surgery and my surgeon gave me 3 layers of sutures to close my diastatis. 6 months later my abdoment still isnt flat how i wouof off liked it. I have buldge above my navel and below in my mons area its buldges out a lot and feel really hard. My scaring is poor, because my wounds came apart slightly after surgery. Im just seeking advice on what is causing rhe buldge if its vistral fat, or sutures loosen?
