I'm 52 yrs. young and just got my first set of invisaligns yesterday afternoon...and 'WOW', I wasn't prepared for how they prep teeth for trays (buttons). I only have 7 buttons/top and 6 buttons/bottom. It felt very tight when trays were placed and I scratched up my tongue pretty badly within 3 hours of wearing them. My poor tongue felt swollen and raw the first night and I awoke at 3:00 am from pain. Took a Motrin gel cap and pain eventually ceased so I could go back to sleep.
I'm disappointed that my buttons don't match my tooth colour (look yellow in tone; my teeth very white) and my buttons are fairly large which, makes them very noticeable when trays out and somewhat noticeable when trays in. Maybe I'm being overly critical of the buttons but, I may inquire on the next set of trays if they can redo buttons with a shade that matched teeth more so it doesn't look like I have big wads of cake on my teeth! Hah Hah!
It hurt taking them out first time and popping them back in (perhaps a jackhammer may have been quicker; just kidding).
All in all, it seemed less complicated this morning and less painful. It's like anything new, you can be accepting and positive looking towards the outcome or you can choose to be inhibited and upset about the treatment but, I've decided, what the heck, the end result will be beautiful and I am so worth it!!! Can't wait for my Rock Star smile!

p.s. lots of good advice from other invisalign wearers in forums. I learned a lot about treatment, care and results from those who shared.
p.s. Dr. Kobaisy is wonderful!!!

Hi! Just checking in to see how you're doing after your first month!

Hi there! Thanks for following up on me! ';0)
Just to let you know, I'm doing 'awesome'. The first day with each new set is a bit tight on back molars and front middle teeth but other than that, it's pretty easy and pain-free transition into 2nd and 3rd week of trays! I've discovered dental wax helps with the new sets on sharp edges of trays, but, that too, seems to resolve itself rather quickly.
I am proud to say I am a pro at popping them in/out now and have been very diligent about looking after them and wearing them minimum 20-22 hours/day so I'm hoping my diligence in wear and care will pay off.
I was given 18 trays, initially and don't know how long this will take? 1 1/2 to 2 yrs?? I go back to see Dr. Kobaisy on June 11th for follow-up appointment and I hope he reports things are moving along well, and that the results and anticipated progress overall should be on target or sooner.

I also was given 18 trays initially and I was done in a year, so there's certainly a great chance you'll be done in the time you said :D. So glad to hear things are going great!!!! Please let us know what happens at the checkup!

Update; I'm On Tray #3

I'm on my third tray now and all is well. I've been diligent about wearing them/trays and have been caring for them, as advised. I get a bit of pain with each new set on rear molars and two upper front teeth which, generally, dissipates in a day. Motrin at bedtime helps with that.
I've discovered dental wax...its great. I find I use it for each new set due to sharp edges of trays but, generally, it's only required for first 1-2 days. Typically, its been smooth sailing after that!
I'm happy to report I've figured out how to pop them suckers in/out rather quickly now.
Sleeping is a bit of a challenge as obviously, I must try to catch flies while asleep (open mouth/dries up). Hahhah! Figured that one out too...I keep a bottle of water and lip balm at bedside table now.
I go for first check-up in 2 weeks and hope my diligence in wear will yield promising results. All-in-all, not as bad as anticipated. Let's hope old people's teeth aren't stubborn to move!!!!

Time keeps flying by! Two more months…I assume things have continued to go well, or you would have let us know :). But you're far enough into treatment now that I'd expect to see some visible results. Has that happened for you?
I hope you find the support you need in the community! :D Oh, and if you need help with anything, just comment or send me a private message!
