I had a surgery done 3 days ago by Dr.Davidson. The surgery was scheduled for Tuesday at 4pm but I got a call 2 hours before my surgery that it needed to be rescheduled. So I went in the next morning at 7am. The surgery took about 30 minutes. No aftercare instructions were given to me by the doctor. The nurse said to do icing. The nurses were nice but the doctor was in and out and gave little to no advice. I was not offered the option to rest in the recovery room, I was walked straight to the door when the procedure was over. Two days later, I had a complication with the surgery and called the office but the doctor wasn't in. The secretary told me to send photos so I did, and got a two word answer from Davidson, "looks fine." Since I was in excruciating pain the next day I e-mailed more pictures and described my concerns in detail through e-mail, and Davidson replied telling me that he doesn't have time to get multiple e-mails. I was extremely hurt and offended that my own doctor didn't care about my well-being and recovery. I feel mistreated and have made an appointment with a new surgeon to look at complications. To me, this doctor only cares about making money and looking good to the media and I regret choosing this surgeon without more research.

Although it is impossible to comment about a specific patient's experience, especially one's own patient from a HIPPA and patient confidentiality perspective, there are some general points that I can comment upon without being specific about the particular patient who has submitted this review.
In my practice a labiaplasty is done under local anesthesia. What that means is that the labia minora are numbed with a local anesthetic and then the procedure is performed. Once a procedure has been completed, if a patient is medically stable, we do send them home shortly thereafter so that she has arrived home and is comfortable in her own bed by the time the local anesthesia wears off. This is especially important if a patient has driven herself to the office and is also driving herself home.
I try to be accessible to all of my patients as much as possible. I am always available via phone, in person, or by email. In fact, I get countless emails from patients and often respond as late as midnight. That being said, the danger of email is that one can literally have an email "conversation" that is endless. Although I cannot comment about this particular patient I do rarely have to limit the amount of responses I am able to provide.
With regards to the comment made by Eva G and the answer from Dr. Wong I agree that in general it would be difficult to suture the labia minor to the labia majora.
The total cost of a labiaplasty in my practice, including the consult is $4500.
It is always disappointing to hear that a patient has had a negative experience and as a physician who sincerely cares about his patients and their results I do appreciate this feedback.

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. Have you met with a new surgeon? How are you doing now?

I had the same experience with him. He is so careless to his patients, including me!
Thank you for sharing your story with us, sorry you didn't have a positive experience. What method of Labiaplasty did you have, trim or wedge?
Did you follow up with your doctor to check on the stitches? I did a search on the site and according to Doctor Curtis Wong "It really is near impossible to suture the minora to the majora as there is a defined space between them." [Read more]
I thought I would share this with you even though you already had your procedure, some good tips, feel free to share any you may have in the comments:

I know it's so painful, I will never forget that feeling and my surgery was many years ago. The first week It felt like I was on fire and being stabbed down there. It took many weeks for me to see the results. Just keep an eye on things, and if you have any concerns be sure to connect with your doctor again. Take care and keep us posted.
