Dr. Holly is very knowledgeable, personable, professional and very flexible (when it comes to scheduling).
Background on my story, I had fillers done in a different facility and I was not satisfied with the result. And to tell you the truth, this is the first time that i had something done so I was really nervous. So this other facility where I have my initial fillers injected, i had shooting pain under my cheek while the injector was injecting the filler. It felt like the needle poked through my nose and my eyeball and i can feel a very cold sensation like water shooting out of my nostrils and my eyebrow. I think the injector grazed by my facial nerve while she was using a cannula to inject the Restylane. Not a good feeling. I ended up swollen for 3 days, and when the swelling went down, the eye bags got worse. I returned to the injector expressing my concern, but did not want to dissolve the filler. She advised me to just use make up to cover the bluish under eye color i developed after having the fillers. I was so devastated. I just want those fillers out.
So after 3 weeks of uneven, bluish baggy look, I looked online to search for an actual oculofacial plastic surgeon and I found Dr. Holly Chang.
After I logged in on her website, I got a response from her after two hours of sending a request. When I met with her the first time, she did a very thorough assessment of my eyes and my eyebags and told me that the puffiness might be coming from the fact that the filler that was used attracts a lot of water and thus giving me the puffy look. She presented me with different options to remedy the situation I am in. She was very professional about it. She even said that the injector did everything right, used the right filler and I might just be not the appropriate option for me and my desired result. She also told me that the puffiness I am experiencing is probably from the filler attracting water.
After my initial appointment, I decided to just dissolve the filler that was placed and made another appointment for the following week to have it dissolved.
When I saw Dr. Chang the following week the puffiness subsided and the crookedness of my bags are more prominent. She then presented me with an option to put more fillers in to even out the look of my eyes or dissolve it. I decided to just give fillers another go, mainly because I saw a lot of before and after pics of Dr. Chang’s work (on her website) and they are impressive.
My experience with her during the filler injection was a complete turn around of my initial procedure. I didn’t have any pain whatsoever. She has this numbing cream that she puts on the skin, then she cleansed my skin with actual surgical grade cleansing agent(chlorhexidine, i know this for a fact, because I work in the operating room) and proceeded to inject me with a new filler (Volbella). I was so scared. But to my surprise, it was so quick and painless. I dreaded all week to have new fillers in, but was pleasantly surprised by her technique and thoroughness. I did not feel a thing, and I did not have a lot of swelling. No shooting pain through my eyeballs and nostrils. No bruises either. It felt like she was just touching my face. I was so impressed.
I definitely recommend her for dermal filler injections and as an oculofacial plastic surgeon.
