2 Months Post-op

Just a quick update to say that I'm now 2 months post-op and am still very happy with my results. My breathing has improved significantly and my nose is not dripping nearly as much which is a huge relief! That was probably the most annoying part of the recovery because it was the most long-term side-effect. I no longer need to have a tissue with me every second. I did get a nasal spray that Dr. Smith prescribed to me so I think that made a big difference.

I'm still obviously very careful with my nose but am thinking about it less and less as time goes on. I can't wait until the day comes when I don't think about it at all. Occasionally I still think it looks large but then I look at pictures and remember what it used to be like and realize that it is not big at all.

Happy healing everyone :)

1 Month Post-op

Just wanted to add a quick update since I'm now exactly 1 month post-op! I am still very happy with my results. My swelling has gone down significantly and although I'm still a bit more swollen in the morning than in the evening, it is not nearly as drastic as it was before. Life has returned to normal. I'm still paranoid about my nose but am not thinking about it nearly as much as I was for the first few weeks.

I'm still using saline solution a couple times a day for my congestion. I also have to have a kleenex with me at all times as my nose is always running! I really hope that that will stop soon as it is a bit embarrassing. My co-workers think that I have a cold which has been dragging on for a month!

I've attached some updated photos. While my incision was initially invisible, it is now slightly red. I apply polysporin every night and am hoping it fades quickly. It's not something that would be noticeable to anyone else but I'd still like it to fade soon! Other than that I am very happy with my results and am SOOO happy to no longer feel self-conscious about my nose!

Happy healing! :)

3 Weeks Post-op

Today marks 3 weeks since my septo-rhinoplasty. I'm feeling better every day, although I'm still congested and a bit more tired than usual.

I saw Dr. Smith today because there was a stitch towards the front of my right nostril which was a bit inflamed and was becoming uncomfortable. I emailed Dr. Smith to ask about it at 11:40pm on Sunday and by midnight he had gotten back to me and scheduled an appointment to see me. Needless to say, I was very impressed! Today he took out the stitch, assured me it is not infected and looked my nose over. It was nice to be able to see him and have confirmation that my nose is healing well. I was also able to clarify a few questions that I had so I was grateful for the opportunity. If you are considering rhinoplasty in the Toronto area (or can travel to Toronto), I definitely recommend Dr. Smith! I will write a more detailed review soon but I have been extremely happy with not only his work, but also the amount of time he has spent with me and how quickly he gets back to me with any questions I have.

I have attached a few updated pictures. Although my nose is still very swollen, I can already see that it's a drastic improvement from my old nose not only from the side (which was immediately evident), but also from the front. Comparing it to the morphed photo, it is also straighter than predicted. It's hard to get a good picture from the front so I apologize for the blurry photo! It is always fairly swollen in the morning and much more refined by the evening. I can't wait for the swelling to dissipate so I can see the final product!

Thanks for following my journey! Happy healing everyone :)
