I don’t usually write blogs like this however...

I don’t usually write blogs like this however reading other peoples blogs and comments has helped me through my course of Accutane.

I am 6 weeks in to my course and I have experienced A LOT of the side effects so many so my work colleagues questioned whether I was allergic to the medication….LUCKY ME ha they are not nice but quite frankly I am happy to have 4 months of these awful side effects over acne any day and if you wouldn’t then you probably shouldn’t be on them….

I am a very active person and go to the gym 1-2 times a day however since taking these tablets I have become very fatigued and have struggled some days- on some days when I feel really bad I will have a berroca as that fizz can give me the kick I need, I always feel better after I go to the gym so I always use that as my motivation to just get on with it. I have read from some people that it’s not good to exercise and train while on them however I have continued as only recently I have been told that It’s not good. Accutane has not affected my training at all and whilst it is a depressant drug it the gym is something that keeps me sane so I won’t be stopping unless I am physically unable to or advised not to by my consultant.

I experienced extremely dry lips very early on taking this and started off by using body shops lip butter as it tasted delicious however it just seemed to make my lips worse- it was soo painful my lips bled and I was soo paranoid so I need my research on lip balms and whilst it is an expensive lip balm if you really don’t want your lips chapped and painful I can 100% recommend spending the money! Clarins HydraQuench Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm 15 ml its in a blue bottle and £19 within the first use my lips were back to soft and actually I would say looked better than they did before- this lip balms is better because its pumping water in to your lips and hydrates them. I cannot recommend you get this enough!!

Next was the skin rash and dryness over my body – it confused me a little at first as it all started with a rash on my right hand and that was it, but I didn’t take long for me to get blotches up my arms of dryness ahhh!! With dry skin it is just a case though of persistent maintenance if you are religiously moisturising morning and night you will be fine I recommend using non perfumed products such as double base or Aquarius creams but I suffer with eczema anyway so I don’t like to go to crazy with moisturizer anyway ha.

My nose is now very painful and dry inside tends to scab over and bleed which only today I read a doctor recommend ‘Ayr Saline gel’ which I am going to try today to see if it helps so I haven’t got a review on that yet but anything’s worth a go hey….

One of the worst symptoms for me at the moment is my eyes! They are all puffy and swollen and feel like they have sty’s forming- I look hideous! This is a symptom I would like some advice for as nothing making much difference at all. I have taken antihistamine which has slightly helped but I still don’t look great, I have also tried putting ‘gold dust’ in which is a cream for eye infections and that has just left my vision blurry and not helped so that too is not ideal.

My skin has got a little better but only slightly so I’m hoping for good results very soon considering these horrible symptoms I’m going through with it! Wish me luck! Ha
