7+ Months After Facelift/numb/scalp Discomfort

Well, the good part is I probably pass as younger, which in America is currency. But I was NOT prepared for this, nor was I told I would be uncomfortable more than 7 months after my surgery. My face is still numb, and my scalp is still very uncomfortable. I added an upper and lower eyelid surgery because Dr Smith discounted it, but my eyes have been equally problematic. They are uneven, and I lost my happy upturned eyes. Now all the folds turn down.

This is an update one full year after a SMAS facelift with Charlotte Plastic Surgery (renowned and reccommended!) I wish I had never done this. My scalp hurts and I feel like I have duct tape lifting my neck and face up. It is awful. DO NOT DO IT.

Hi Lori, I will post some pics. I did finally get in to see him in late March of this year, one year after my surgery, and he first tried me on gabapentin which is a medicine that can break up nerve pain but I did not do well on that at all, and it did not help. But I'm sensitive to most medication. Weaning from it took 10 days. He then gave me two injections with a steroid in the painful areas of my scalp and I was in a lot of pain for four days but now it seems to be much better. It's been about a month. I have also visited my excellent chiropractor who also does kinesiology. Tha is also helping. I do look 10 years younger perhaps but I'm still not sure I did the right thing. Still numb on the sides of my face and around my ears. I chose him because I was impressed with his presentation and his before and after photographs. I wanted something very subtle.Renny

I had facelift and upper and lower eyelid surgery. I look 10 years younger, but it was so traumatic that I'm not sure I made the right decision. I hope I will continue to get back to feeling normal. I will be 69 in two weeks.
