Amazing Care from Dr Hamadeh and His Team, but Steer Clear of Cadogan Clinic
I had rhinoplasty/septoplasty 3 weeks ago with Dr Hamadeh. The first week of recovery was tough but feeling great now. Dr Hamadeh and Nurse Kelly have been brilliant with any questions or concerns I've had both pre and post surgery. Kelly has been on hand just a text or phone call away any time of the day, which really helped me especially during my recovery. She is really great at what she does and is caring and empathetic towards her patients.
My surgery took place at Cadogan Clinic in London. I arrived with my partner, but had not been told that he wasn't able to come in with me. I sat in a quiet waiting room until I was taken to a small room to get changed for surgery and put my belongings into a locker. I sat waiting in the room for a while and I could hear everything that the nurse was discussing with the patient next door, which I didn't think was right for confidentiality reasons. Dr Hamadeh came and saw me, took some pictures and we went over my desired results as previously discussed. The Anesthesiologist then came to see me, who was so lovely and made me feel at ease before going through to Theatre. I walked to theatre and was then put under.
When I came round I was very drowsy and confused. I had to get up off the operating table and into a wheelchair when I could barely feel my legs and hands. Several mobile phones were then put in my face and asked which one was mine. I was expecting my things to be waiting on me in the recovery room, not for someone to go through my bag to get my phone. The recovery room was very small and I was straight away given tea, water and something to eat. I was nauseous and very disorientated and confused which has never happened to me after an operation before, so naturally I didn't want to eat. I was given anti sickness medication and told continuously to eat something. I couldn't eat the meal but forced myself to eat a yoghurt. I felt very rushed which made me anxious as the nurse kept on coming in and telling me to eat. As soon as I had finished the yoghurt I was told to try the toilet. I honestly just felt like they were rushing me out and have never had that kind of treatment with an NHS surgery. For the amount of money I paid, I expected empathy from the nurses and top quality care.
I was told to contact my partner to tell him I was out of surgery. Due to the reaction the anesthetic had on me, with my hands not working, I ended up locking myself out my phone for an hour and couldn't contact anyone. I could barely string a sentence together and asked the nurse if she could call my partner, she never did. I honesty expected a nurse contact my partner and let him know how things went etc, which again is usually done with NHS surgeries.
When it was time to leave I was just passed to my partner at reception and we went on our way. Even my partner was shocked that I was just dropped off like this giving my disoriented state and that nothing about how the operation went or medication was explained to him.
Overall the care from Dr Hamadeh and his staff was fantastic, I cannot say the same for the Clinic. If you're thinking of having surgery I would go for Fitzrovia or Harley St hospitals and steer clear of Cadogan Clinic.
