One year later after my surgery, the results are negligible
Rhinoplasty with Dr. Cenk Sen
On to the doctor and the surgery; I chose Dr Cenk to perform my surgery out of several I consulted with, I found him to be confident and seemingly very competent at his field. He boasted about the small number of his patients that have required revisions - it seems to vary between 3-12, which is in retrospect a sign that the figure is imaginary. On our first meeting, I explained what I wanted done. He spoke good English, clearly understood, and agreed that the outcome was realistic.
After surgery, I awoke to find him complaining about how long the procedure took, and explaining that he had performed procedures to widen my nostrils to promote airflow, which was outside what we had discussed and agreed on. I had no breathing problems before surgery. For the next few weeks the doctor was impossible to consult - he is apparently a very busy man, too busy making television appearances and courting new business to deal with his patients. When I eventually saw him for a follow up it was very brief - a couple of minutes where he spent more time complaining about the nose of an Israeli patient he had just performed on than my surgery.
One year later after my surgery, the results are negligible. Despite saying that the goals were realistic, he couldn't successfully meet any of them. Apart from the scarring, there is no noticeable difference in the appearance of my nose - even to close friends and family. I deeply regret this massive waste of time, opportunity, money, and pain that has amounted to nothing.
I can surmise that Dr. Cenk is overconfident to the point of arrogance, and instead of the surgery we agreed on, decided to take my money and do something else entirely. I only wish I could have gone back and chosen a different surgeon, and my hope is that someone reading this is saved from a repeat of my experience.
The 'Burger King' Approach to Plastic Surgery
The clinic itself is done up in what someone has imagined 'modern' might look like. The result is extremely gaudy to my eyes. Despite the massive expenditure on the appearance of the clinic, and the numerous staff employed, service is poor, and un-coordinated. I
visited the clinic four times, each with an appointment for which I arrived on time, or earlier. Each time I was kept waiting between one and several hours, which is unacceptable. I paid for an all-inclusive package, which included medications and post-care. Unfortunately after my surgery, the clinic told me they were out of medication and sent me with a list to the local chemist to buy them myself. They refused to even compensate me for medications I shouldn't have had to buy.
The surgery itself was a complete failure, which is down to the doctor himself and is detailed in another review. Relevant to this review though, is the after-care, which is non existent. A really shocking experience. There are many many surgeons in Istanbul, choose yours more carefully than I did.
