I am now 8 weeks post op and my breathing is still super! I am uploading 2 pictures showing before and after revision (4 weeks post-op). The other 2 pictures (front-facing and full headshot showing my left side) are also after revision. Just wanted to show 2 pics from further away...not so zoomed on the nose. So thankful for Dr. Lin!

Dr. Lin for the Win! A True Expert in His Field
I wish I had found Dr. Lin the first time around. He performed my revision septo-rhinoplasty on 7/6/2022 in Boston.
Some background: my nose suffered major trauma when I was in a bicycle accident at the age of 12 years-old. My nose was semi- broken when I landed directly on my face. A curtain rod also fell directly on the bridge of my nose a few years later, which caused even more trauma to the bridge. My breathing was suffering, and for 24 years I was a mouth breather. I had a hard time sleeping, suffered from migraines and post-nasal drip.
In 2020, I decided to have a septo-rhinoplasty performed with a surgeon in Vermont to fix my breathing and shave down the hump. The procedure was not successful, my breathing became worse, and the appearance of my nose did not improve. A columellar graft had been placed, but it made my nose look longer and more deviated to the left. That graft was also painful, especially because I had to wear a mask at work 10+ hours a day. My side profile looked completely different from one side to the other. I had to wait a long 12 months to even think about a revision and for the healing to be finalized.
I did tons of research this time to find the BEST surgeon for a revision. I was hoping to find an expert on the East Coast, so I looked at options in Montreal and New York as well. When I found Dr. Lin, I was amazed with the number of great reviews he had on several different sites. I decided to book a consultation to see what he could do for me.
At the initial consultation, he knew right away what to do to improve the functional and the cosmetic aspects of my nose. His bedside manners are wonderful, he takes the time to listen, and he is all about keeping things looking natural while setting realistic expectations.
With all of the trauma my nose went through, I could only hope for improvement. I have scars all over my face, very thin skin and scarring over my bridge, so perfection was never my end goal.
The staff at the surgery center in Needham was wonderful. Dr. Lin even called me the night before surgery to check on me, and to remind me to not eat or drink anything after midnight. I was already asleep when he called, but when I listened to his voicemail the next day, I thought that was amazing. This shows how he goes above and beyond to provide excellent patient care.
Surgery went well. Dr. Lin was able to fix my breathing on both sides, take out the columellar graft I hated, lower my bridge until a nice straight profile was reached, and make my side profiles the same.
After surgery, I was able to ride in the passenger seat for 4 hours back to Vermont without any issues. I had already gone through that surgery once before, so I knew what to expect as far as recovery goes and was prepared. The nurses were easily accessible via phone/email for any questions I had.
I went back to Boston on day #8 for post op and to get my splints removed and stitches taken out. Best feeling ever when those things come out!!! My breathing was had already improved. For the first time in a long time, I felt like I was getting proper airflow all the way to my brain. Felt like my brain cells were getting all excited.
I met again with Dr. Lin at the 6-week mark. He took pictures to compare to the pre-op pictures. Huge difference already!
I am still early in my recovery, but the swelling has already mostly gone down. I am very pleased with the results so far, and would recommend Dr. Lin to everyone. He is an expert in his field, he pays attention to detail, and he knows what he is doing. I wish I had gone to him the first time around.
