If You're Considering Rhinoplasty, Schedule a Consultation with Dr. Faris
I had primary rhinoplasty 10 years ago when I was 19 years old. I did not thoroughly research my surgeon at the time and my budget was limited, so cost was too important a factor to me. I ended up with an over-rotated nose, uneven nostrils, a pinched nasal tip, and breathing problems.
I didn't consider revision until I read about techniques with rib grafting that could, in many cases, correct over-rotation. I started researching these techniques and came across Dr. Faris and his colleagues at the Face Institute. With some trepidation given my previous experience, I scheduled a consultation with the team.
I found Dr. Faris and his team extremely professional, understanding, and friendly. He listened to my concerns without judgment, and after examining my nose created morphs with me. He was clear about what was possible and did not over-promise, but did say that if I opted for surgery he thought he could make a moderate to substantial improvement to the aesthetic and functional properties of my nose. While Dr. Faris' technical qualifications are first rate and certainly precede him, I was particularly impressed by his approach and aesthetic eye upon meeting him; rhinoplasty can be as much an art as it is a science.
I underwent revision rhinoplasty with a rib graft with Dr. Faris in March 2023. The staff at the surgical centre, including Dr. Faris and Dr. Schmidt, were extremely kind and made me feel very comfortable. Recovery was, honestly, easier than I feared -- my pain and downtime were minimal. I had no complications during surgery, and my immediate post-operative 'after' photo looked virtually identical to the morphs Dr. Faris and I had discussed. A small detail, but these morphs were also up in the OR during the operation -- something that helped me feel comfortable and confident that I would end up with a nose -- and by extension a face -- that I recognised when I woke up.
Rhinoplasty, particularly in the case of revision, can be highly complex. If you are considering rhinoplasty -- primary or revision -- consider scheduling a consultation with Dr. Faris. I couldn't recommend him and his team more.
