I had given up. Bottom line. I was blessed with breast implants for 13 years with no complications yet upon my own decision I opted to have them redone in the event something was due to go wrong with their "age". Unfortunately this placed me in the repeat offender of the capsular contracture category. Soon after this elective surgery I developed a CC in my left breast, which was both devastating and painful. Yet without educating myself I solely placed my trust in my surgeon to repair the troublesome breast basically with the initial approach only to have the same result months later. Regretfully the only answer I got was that this was likely due to missing a previous appointment; I knew then my time with this surgeon was over.
I was scarred both mentally and physically and even after multiple consults with other surgeons I felt I had little hope left to reverse the damage that had been done. I accepted this was how my breasts would have to be. I bought a wardrobe that covered as much of my chest as possible, I even quit giving hugs in fear someone would feel the rock under my shirt.
Meanwhile I educated myself on this phenomenon of capsular contracture and why it happens and how to reduce the chances of reoccurrence. Something I should have done long before. Sadly there are steps that can be taken that substantially reduce the risks and yet not one of them had been recommended to me.
Until I met Dr. Adam Oppenheimer.
At my initial consult before I even spoke of all I had learned, or what "I" thought would be the best approach he said it all. For the first time I knew I had met not only a refined surgeon but also one of great ingenuity.
His technique would include EVERY possible measure to prevent capsular contracture, infection and ultimately give me back the breasts I dreamed of! Of course the risks were still there, but I knew this was my last and best chance to try once again. He immediately gained my trust by making me feel as if he wanted this for me as much as I did.
Dr. Oppenheimer handled my surgery remarkably given the amount of scar tissue left in my breast pockets (both above and below). He not only cleaned up the disarray left before him but also reconstructed my breasts into something I never imagined possible. My healing was surprisingly stress-free there was no bruising, no infection, and my scars are already amazing. I couldn’t ask for a better outcome. They are perfect!
I have dreamed of this day and I have him to thank for it all! Best part of this journey is how much I underestimated a great hug and how good it feels to give them again! I truly can’t thank you enough Dr. O, Dee-Dee, Christina and many more that made this all possible! #hugs
