I had a full hysterectomy when I was in my late twenties. My tummy never was the same and I developed scar tissue and due to some poor eating habits -- way too much diet soda & sugar, my tummy was flabby and I could never lose the bulge and the start of the hated "apron" appearance. So, finally, I was able to get over my fears. I spoke to those who had had TT & lipo about their experience and who performed their procedures. I finally scheduled an consultation with Utah Cosmetic Surgery and spoke with Dr. Haupt. I immediately felt good him and the staff. I scheduled my date for surgery. The surgery went great and even thought the first three days were miserable, I could still manage the pain. I had no side effects or problems. Yes, it's annoying to have drains sticking out of your body and yes it is awful to even try to move, shower or do anything but make sure you keep on top of your pain meds and slowly you will start to feel better. I expected to be up and around in a week but really you need about 2-3 weeks of rest. Yes, you can get up and around but I realized the more I rest I had, the better my recovery. YES, have someone with you for the first week, yes, have people bring in food and do light cleaning for you. Your primary taker is taking care of you and it's full time job. Have others come over so your primary care give can get out of the house and breathe and get away from the demands. My advice: Speak to people you know or those that know someone and talk to them about their experience and their doctor. I did have a few who didn't recommend their doctor but recommend another doctor. I even was talking to a random person who I didn't know who recommended my doctor -- so I had three different people from different circles recommend the same doctor. I felt that was a good sign and in the end...it was the best decision I made. I rented a hospital bed and table--that was best for me. Don't waste your money on lots of other nonsense as I don't really think you need it. I bought some medical tape and cut up a kitchen garbage liner and taped it over my incision area so it didn't get as wet when I showered and a lanyard for hooking the drains helped. Once you are over the hump, go and buy a compression garment since your body has changed. Good luck to all those who are considering a tt and lipo.
