6 Week Post Op Scar Update

Scar Therapy image attached. Using Embrace for tummy tuck Scar and silicon gel for belly button.

6 Week post-Op Update

I’m so happy with my decision to have the no-drain tummy tuck. I sneezed yesterday and it didn’t hurt. Whoo hoo! I’m using the Embrace scar therapy on my tummy tuck scars and the improvement is definitely noticeable. Dr. Stevens make a perfectly place and very clean incision line that is invisible when I’m wearing underwear or a bikini. I can’t stress how important it is to go to a great surgeon!
I do get a little bit of a skin rash from the Embrace treatment but I take two days off in between changing the silicon strips. I did have to buy an additional box of small silicone strips so I recommend you measure your scar to make sure you have the proper size. I’m PMS’ing pretty bad today so I’m bloated from hormones (migraine is always my sign of hormonal fluctuations and I woke up with one today). Despite that bloating and the post-tummy tuck swelling I’d say it’s still looking pretty good.

What can I say about Dr. Stevens? He’s is a brilliant and ethical surgeon who has changed my life. I had breast augmentation 10 years ago and it still looks perfect. You can’t even see the scars! So, after relentlessly working out and lifting weights for years I finally decided that my post-pregnancy stomach was NEVER going to go down or look attractive. I had a high risk pregnancy with my firstborn and had too much amniotic fluid. It swelled my belly up to the point that everyone asked if I was having twins. I’ve always worked out, always been fit and active, and eat well (vegan) with a high protein fitness diet. Unfortunately all that was hidden under the stomach skin and that even made my thighs sag. So crazy. My only regret? Why the heck did I wait! On March 27, 2018 I had tummy tuck surgery with lipo of the flanks and inner thighs. I’m posting pics but right now I’m at the middle of Week 3. I’m feeling great! I worked in the garden yesterday (light gardening). By week two I was driving and making dinner. I forced myself to get up since day 1 and followed all the doctor instructions. I still rest with my legs up at night, drink plenty of fluid and move as much as I can (walking). I was driving by the beginning of week 2 for short distances and was driving as usual by the end of week 2. I could not sneeze or cough until week 3 without discomfort. Accidentally sneezed at the end of week 1 and it hurt like heck! Laughing was a no no until the end of week 2. I was off my pain Meds by day 8 and didn’t even need Advil. I was able to get up without using my arms by week 2. I purchased the Embrace scar therapy treatment and started it once the scabs were gone. I am starting my second 10 day treatment today. I bought the 60 day treatment so we will see how it goes. I do swell up in my stomach and upper thighs by the end of the day still. I wear my compression garments religiously. I started out with the garments the doctor gave me but by week 2 I was wearing lululemon compression pants during the day or spanx and binder at night. Even with the swelling it looks great. I saw my abs yesterday and couldn’t believe it. I now look like the fit and strong woman I am. I also realized that I beat myself up for years trying to get a body that was not going to come back without surgery. The amount of skin removed was wild. The surgery removed the extra skin that was spilling over into my back, buttocks and front and inner thighs. So crazy that one surgery can improve so many parts of the body. I honestly was so happy to have no drains. That was always something that seemed horrible to have to deal with. I’m very greatful for the technique Dr. Stevens uses. My recovery was faster than I expected. I’m not hitting the heavy weights for a while but I’m back at the gym lifting light weights. Dr. Stevens is the best! I’ve sent my mom and friends to him and trust him and his care. His staff is amazing! This is the only surgeon I will ever go to. I highly recommend Dr. Stevens.
