Male lipo & gynecomastia - thrilled with the results
Magic Man - Male Lipo & Gynecomastia
AMAZING experience and results. I did vaser lipo with gynocemastia on my abs, flanks and chest. I am nearly one year post-op (photos are at 6 months - definition has improved even more since...I'll try to get some new ones posted) and am THRILLED with my results. Literally every morning I look at myself in the mirror and smile, and think "damn I look [RS bleep] good!". The best I ever felt after obsessive gym and dieting was "not too bad, almost there". I didn't "need" lipo, I just wanted to look great with my shirt off and had stubborn areas that never seemed to go away. Mission accomplished!
I am very picky and had consultations with a total of SIX doctors to find the right one. Basically the top rated doctors for male lipo you'll find on Realself. Six may be overkill, but I think multiple opinions are important because you get different and sometimes conflicting opinions or recommendations (so multiple helps you see a consensus), and I really wanted the right fit. There was nothing "wrong" with any of them, but Dr. Neavin just really stood apart - for any given item below he wasn't the only doctor that met the criteria (many did), but he was the only one who met ALL of them.
1) He was excellent answering my questions and addressing my concerns and taking the time I needed to get comfortable (I had a lot of questions). Some doctors don't like to explain themselves, they decree what's needed and you should just trust them. Dr Neavin took the time to explain the pros and cons for different options.
2) He has a very significant practice in male lipo. Men are different than women, and this is as much art as science - experience matters.
3) His before and after pics looked great and had a solid variety of pics.
4) I felt like I got solid, objective opinions without upselling or pressure, and he struck the right balance of conservatism and willingness to get the result I wanted. This was really the value of multiple opinions - it gave me confidence where the sweet spot was. For example some doctors say yes to everything you consider, Dr. Neavin talked me out of a couple procedures I was considering. Some are very aggressive to get super high def results, but multiple doctors warned me there's much higher risk of abnormalities with this. One doctor was so conservative he refused to do my stomach or chest, only my flanks. You'll also find some doctors recommend whatever their competency is and completely shit on or dismiss anything they don't do, and you wonder if you're really getting an objective opinion or if their speciality is just whatever they happened to learn in residency (falling into something vs. seeking out the best options) and they're just stuck in their ways and dismissive of anything new. Dr Neavin spoke openly about the universe of potential techniques and technologies, and for techniques he didn't do it felt like he'd given it real consideration and made a reasoned choice not to pursue it in his practice (and could articulate the reasons why other doctors might choose to).
5) He does both lipo and gynecomastia (not all did both).
6) Scarring is really minimal, though it does take time to heal. I'm happy with the result. This was definitely by biggest worry pre-op, I was obsessed, I didn't want a woman I'm with or someone at the beach knowing I've had lipo. The flank scars I literally can't find anymore, even knowing exactly where they're supposed to be. The groin incisions he did asymetrical so they wouldn't look too surgical/precise - one is virtually invisible now, the other is still visible and slightly raised but you wouldn't think anything of it. The nipple scars are virtually invisible (I struggle to see them even knowing they're there). The chest scars are the only ones visible, they've gotten much better than what you see in the photo, I it's the one area I do hope improves further - they're probably noticeable to others but mild enough that maybe not. I definitely see them (knowing they're there). I don't know if anybody would think anything of them. That said, since I hit the 6 month mark I've been to handful of shirtless social events (pool or beach), and been intimate with around a half dozen women. I've never once gotten a comment or question, as far as I can tell nobody has noticed the scars. I HAVE gotten positive comments on my body, so it's not that nobody is looking at my torso. Use the scar cream he gives you! I use it religiously.
7) Fair price. Not the cheapest, not the most expensive.
8) Reasonable availability - not wide open, but didn't have to wait forever to schedule the surgery.
9) Great bedside manner. I just felt comfortable and confident that I was in good hands.
10) Excellent follow up and post-op care.
A final note about recovery. Don't be dismissive when the doctor says make sure you have someone to take care of you for the first few days. The first day post-op is brutal, even the most simple movements or tasks are extremely difficult or even nearly impossible without help, e.g. getting in an out of bed. The next couple days improve but you'll be very happy to have help. It's not constant pain - when lying down still I felt perfectly comfortable, it's trying to move that hurts. Don't let it impact your decision to do lipo though, it's just a few days that are really tough and this is a long-term decision.

I ask because I just had lipo 2 months ago and ended up having post op complications and ive been incredibly swollen and uncomfortable this entire time.
Id really appreciate any of your thoughts/insight as you were so kind to post such a detailed experience. Thanks!
