22 Years Old, Domestic Violence - Latham, NY

Hey all, my name is Lauren. I was a part of a domestic violence incident when the guy I was in a relationship with at the time punched me. He punched me twice, causing my nose to break in three places. There were many other warning signs I should have noticed that all lead up to this happening: Verbal abuse, manipulation, being told what I could and could not do, etc. But I never even noticed any of the signs of a domestic relationship until I was out of it and got my head cleared. I had gone to therapy and went on anti-depressants, trying to get back to my happy, healthy self again. When my nose healed and the bruises faded away, my nose was so crooked it made me extremely self conscious. I was going to have to live with my nose that way for the rest of my life. It was hard to feel confident about myself. I noticed it every time I looked in the mirror and every time it made me think back to what had happened to me. My mom looked into it, and found out that Dr. Edwin Williams does a domestic violence program at his surgery center. I went in for a consultation and everyone was so loving and kind. I went to therapy to get the help I needed to overcome my depression caused by the relationship and was out of the relationship for one year. Dr. Williams then scheduled my rhinoplasty surgery. The day of the surgery couldn't have gone any smoother. Him and all of his staff made me feel so comfortable and safe. I knew i was in good hands! Recovery took about 2 weeks and about a year to fully heal and set into place. At my one year checkup appointment he noticed that one side wasn't as perfect as he wanted it (remember, my nose was REALLY bad) so he went above and beyond and set an appointment for a silicon injection in the right side of my nose so that it looked perfect. A couple months later I went in for the injection and within 10 minutes my nose was perfect. It really made me thankful that he cares so much about perfecting his work that he took the extra steps to perfect my nose. I wouldn't recommend any other surgeon for plastic surgery. Dr. Edwin Williams is an EXCELLENT surgeon along with all of his loving staff! I can now honestly say that I can look at myself in the mirror and feel 100% CONFIDENT with the way that I look. Not only did getting my nose fixed help me feel great about my appearance, but it also made me feel great about the way I feel inside. I would never been able to say that I truly love myself without the help Dr. Williams gave me. I could never thank him and everyone else who helped me enough through this rough patch I was in. He is honestly an incredible surgeon and him having the domestic violence program at his surgery center just goes to show you how caring and understanding he is. I hope anyone who is experiencing violence in their relationship seeks help! It is very tragic and there IS help out there. Thank you Dr. Edwin Williams for all of your help and support, thank you to all of Dr. Williams staff for all of your help as well. I can't explain how thankful I am. I wouldn't have ever felt this great about myself without all of your help!
