Provider Review
I put off writing this review for a very long time, and debated even writing it, but in the end perhaps it will help someone else. I chose Dr. Trimas to perform a rhinoplasty, fat transfer, and neck lipo, based on his excellent reviews and impressive before and after photos. My consultation with him went well, he was very informative and knowledgeable and put me at ease that we were on the same page, and he and his staff was very friendly. I went into my surgery with some nervousness, but confidence in him as my surgeon based on my research. However, my results were nothing like I've read about or seen. First the "small" stuff. The neck lipo had minimal results at best, which a year later looking at before and after photos you can tell no difference at all. Honestly I was so preoccupied with my nose I have no idea if there was a difference even in the beginning, but maybe? The fat transfer to the pre-jowl area of my face made a very minimal difference for perhaps a month? At best. But on to the "biggie." The rhinoplasty. My results started off okay for the first few months. Not as great as I'd hoped, but I was relieved nothing had gone wrong, though I did have some concerns about my now very irregularly shaped nostrils in the beginning. I was reassured there was still plenty of swelling and the results would only get better. They did not. They got worse, and my worst fears came true. By month 8 after my procedure, my nostrils had retracted to an extreme, one side much worse than the other, to the point where I was extremely self conscious about it. You could look straight into my nose and see things no other person should see. There were also two strange sunken in depressions in the skin at the tip of my nose, one dome of the tip was much higher than the other, one side of the bridge had a slight hump while the other was more sloping rather than straight and were very irregular from each other, and my nose was tilting to one side. While it wasn't the stuff of horror stories you see on television, it was an extremely unattractive nose with serious issues, to the point where I didn't want to be photographed, even with my newborn. I expressed my concerns to Dr. Trimas a few times throughout the first year and a half, and once the year waiting period was up and after I'd given birth to my daughter, Dr. Trimas suggested simply raising the columella a bit and filling the depressions with filler. I wasn't sure this would address my issues and after some soul searching decided to consult with a few other surgeons about a possible revision. At first I wondered if perhaps I was just a picky person and the issues with my nose were all in my head, but of the three surgeons I consulted with, all of them expressed great concern with my result and confirmed there were some serious issues, and that taking the steps Dr. Trimas suggested would not fix the problem and might even make the appearance worse. After each of them reviewed my before photos from Dr. Trimas with the ones they took in their offices, they each also agreed my "before" nose looked far better than my after, as well as confirming that they could detect no difference from the lipo and fat transfer I'd had done (which I opted to just leave alone and not try to have done again). One surgeon in particular gave me the confidence to have a revision rhinoplasty, which I had done 6 weeks ago. After my surgery he showed me pictures he'd stopped to take during the procedure because he'd been so astounded at what he found when he opened up my nose, which had some MAJOR structural issues and needed more work than he'd anticipated. Even I, a layman, was immediately alarmed by what I saw and knew it was very wrong. Fortunately I am now loving my new nose, but I wish I'd gone to this surgeon to begin with. I fully believe that Dr. Trimas is a good surgeon who does good work. His other reviews and previous work prove that. I have no idea what happened with my surgery that gave me the awful outcome I had, but nonetheless, it was an awful result that cost me nearly $8,000 to rectify with another surgeon. What really bothers me about the experience, however, is not that I had a bad outcome, it's that Dr. Trimas was dismissive of that outcome and wanted to do as little as possible to fix it, which wouldn't have worked anyway. Mistakes are made, but how you choose to handle them is far more important in my opinion.
