Skilled Nipple Correction
I went in for an inverted nipple correction and was extraordinarily nervous. Dr Rahban and his nurses did an amazing job of making me feel comfortable in an uncomfortable situation, not just while I was in his office, but through every phone call and email leading up to the surgery.
This was a procedure I had a hard time finding a lot of before and after reviews on. So it was important for me to share my experience from before and after.
During the consultation, I was suddenly scared by the thought of having surgery of any kind. The moment Dr Rahban came in, I was not only comforted with a knowledge that everything would be alright, but was suddenly at ease with being shirtless. Now understand, this has been a body issue I have had growing up, and after trying every at home remedy, I realized it was time for a permanent fix. I was 31 years old and needed to do this for me to feel whole.
The procedure itself was done under a local in the office, meaning I was fully awake. The numbing they injected was so effective, I didn't feel a thing. It wasn't like being at the dentist where things feel numb, it honestly wasn't a feeling at all! The Dr and Assist were carrying conversation with me the whole time, keeping me well distracted. There was a moment where you could hear some of the cuts being made, but instead of pretending they weren't being heard, he offered up to tell me what the sound was. He explained that there are a lot of fibers inside my breasts that are holding the nipple inside, so they need to be cut loose. As weird as it sounds, I was put even more at ease that he didn't wait for me to ask. Instead, his level of calm and explanation made me realize again that I am in the hands of an expert.
There is some very important advice I would give to anyone having this procedure. The numbing is so effective that you almost forget you had the procedure done...until the numbing wears off. Two Tylenol is all it takes to kill the pain, but you have to take them before the painkiller wears off or you will have a rude awakening. For me, that awakening literally happened at midnight when I woke up writhing in pain. After the Tylenol kicked back in, I was perfectly fine. I only needed the Tylenol for a couple of days, then a couple of days where it kind of tickled where the very small stitches were.
Overall, it took me a month to be 100% healed. One side took much longer to heal than the other and for a moment I was worried, but again, everyone was willing to answer questions or even schedule a person to person follow up to address my concerns. In the end, it was just a bit slower to heal.
I'm thrilled. I don't strive to be "normal" but I did need to feel whole. Dr Rabhan and his staff are the reason I feel whole now.
