after many years on prednisone, i was able to lower my dose but the fat deposit below my stomach was so large, i have been unable to clean my self, sit, or do anything really without severe bursitis and back pain. My pt said i will never get better until the fat is removed.Still being on prednisone, 3 doctors agreed it was a medical necessity but did not want to deal with slow wound healing from the prednisone and declined to operate..

Dr.Brenner has a thriving practice and did not need to have a patient that required the procedure be performed at a hospital and an anticipated one week stay .He told me i deserved to have a life without so much disability and accepted my case. He was very honest about all the risks and understood i could not continue living like this so we set a date.Multiple medical issues developed that delayed the surgery and he ordered an abdominal ct scan to rule out hernia. Sure enough, i had a ventral hernia and he referred me to an outstanding hernia specialist. They operated on me together. My skin tore open during the operation but Dr. Brenner continued. He judged exactly how high he could go so as not to jeopardize my blood supply as i had previous scarring from a bowel resection. He had to administer blood thinners during the operation because of a history of a dvt. I was able to walk the next day , eat and noticed i had no back pain! i was able to be discharged after only 2 days.My wounds are healing very well.It has only been 3 weeks and i am able to walk around the block and take a shower and clean my whole body in the shower and when i use the toilet. No bursitis in hips.Dr. Brenner had the compassion and skill to give me my life back. Also, i would be remiss if i did not give special mention to his assistant, Amy.From the beginning, she has responded to every call, email and helped me to get my insurance company authorization. She is incredibly smart, warm and a total pleasure to deal with. Both Dr. Brenner and Amy have been available to me consistently.I am going back in a few months to have my back liposuctioned. The prednisone has caused excessive fat there too.I would not consider seeing anyone other than Dr. Brenner. He is amazing!
