Facelift and Bleph this morning!!
WORTH IT$16,141
I am 61 and like so many women here, do not like this ageing thing. I don't mind the wisdom- but can't stand the neck.
So, instead of whinging- decided to act.
I am nervous - there are risks - but I am excited also. I have seen such wonderful results here on RS, that just motivate me more.
I chose my surgeon because of his very natural results. I have seen two before, but just didn't gel with them.
So, here goes! 30 minutes to go!

Ah I found the photos. You no longer look like these :). If you want to see high quality before and after photos of my facelift (taken with Dr’s camera) go to Dr Ken Ha’s Instagram feed. They show my neck as well as everything else he fixed.

Hello Stormy (
All done!!! I will check out ur pics!
Feeling ok abit nauseas as Dr did some magic !

January 7, 2020
You can see through all of your swelling that the new you looks a lot younger!!! I am your age and have had numerous procedures, but my favorite one was my facelift with a neck lift. It was like erasing 15 years off of my face. If I can help you in any way, please reach out Healing Hugs

January 8, 2020
Yes- I have been having filler etc which has helped a lot ( got cheek bones! ), but nothing can fix a sagging neck!
Now I'm just 'worrying' about ears and eyes !!! Hope they look good!
Love the neck and décolletage already!

January 8, 2020
I, too, had fillers in my cheeks...$2,500 later. Ouch. You don't need anything else done.... looking much younger now!! Congrats.

January 8, 2020
I have spent twice that over the years - it served it's purpose- hopefully won't need for some time .

January 8, 2020
Omg!!! Seriously? It's a nice look, having pretty cheekbones! I am getting Botox in two weeks, which is $850. The price of beauty.
I had a facelift planned for this month, but I'm going to postpone it for a couple of months.

January 10, 2020
Yes, and I could buy a new car with the money I spent. But I have a car. It is not the latest model but it is good enough and the confidence of looking in the mirror is wayyy better than getting in a new car. Plus cars depreciate in value faster than facelifts - lol.

January 10, 2020
I agree! I don't need a new car- but I do need a neat face!! Lol! It's so weird when you see photos of yourself, and don't recognise that 'mature' person! The other day, I was in one of those very modern loos where you walk toward full length mirrors to enter the booth. I thought , ' Who is that woman coming toward me?' And I ha this reaction 3 times!!!! Lol!!!
Hopefully, I will recognise my new younger self now!!!
Also, I have got a tad sick of being invisible these days. In some ways, it can be a liberating feeling, but in others, it is diminishing.
So, this will be an interesting little sociological experiment.
Have you noticed subtle differences in the way you are addressed/ treated since your surgery? You have a sultry look now my dear !
January 10, 2020
I get it - I do. And yes, I no longer shy away from photos. It does take awhile to 'get' the new you. Just as the healing takes time, the confidence is not immediate. That said, it took me 3 months to realise that something was not only different but very positive. Within 3 months my confidence was through the roof at least to the point that I was content and happy. It was worth EVERY CENT and every second of downtime.
I noticed that the 'other side' saw my confidence in court - lol. I strode in rather than trying to be invisible, i dressed better and I wore make up.
I no longer worry about trying to work out the best application of make-up to make me feel presentable. I am happy these days to go out with lip gloss and sunnies - and take them (the glasses off) which is a bonus in the Australian summer.
That sultry look is preparation for 'war '- roflmao. The last time I dreaded the media photos - this time I don't care.
It shouldn't be this way. As an independent woman of the 70's I (or you) should have been happy with the ageing process. But the world doesn't work that way and it is about not only survival but finding a way to thrive.
I bet that in 3 months time you will be posting about your new found confidence :). It is what it is. A facelift can never solve the world's problems but it makes us feel better and there is NOTHING wrong with that.

I agree 100%. I did not relate to the older woman I was seeing -didn't match my mental set point of 25.
I have no regrets- like you, I'm grateful I could do it. I have a lot of things I want to do yet , and, don't want to constantly be apologetic about my chronological age. Have no idea why we women feel this way though. For men, it's just , look in the mirror and 'Hey' (aka The Fonz!).
But I thi I we were already confident in ourselves or we wouldn't have jumped in to ps. Since my relationship ended, I am the happiest I have ever been in my life.
I think it's because I know that I am strong and I can look after myself. I live alone and love it. I have a rich inner life, and love my new little place.
Now, I'm hoping to enjoy wearing less makeup and not having to animate my face so much !!!!!
I love your sultry look tho!!!

January 11, 2020
Ha ha. Yes, I agree with you. I am actually in need of a new car, but to me it's more important to look good, feel great, and LOOK YOUNGER!! It's a flip of a coin... and a facelift it is!!!!! Just got to decide if I need a neck lift too. Going to my ps in two weeks.

January 11, 2020
You are blazing your own trail!!! You go girl with your new self. Hold your head up high, and watch your soul fly!! Take that confidence to an all time high. We women deserve it. Hugs!!

January 11, 2020
We are women who aspire to guide each other. We have the power!! We're unbeatable!
We are all on equal footing.
We are like minded beauty enthusiasts!!
Put your makeup on a top shelf, and strut your stuff. Hugs. Peace. Love.

January 11, 2020
Yes- it kinda depends on your aesthetics. I would advise taking some photos with a neutral expression. These photos do not lie, and will give you some perspective.
Don't ask friends though! They will say you font need anything ( God love them!), and that your neck is fine ( and it may well be !).
My best friend told me that she had never noticed my neck ( hello! Hav u see. My pictures??). And when I showed her the pictures from hell, she said , ' Oh, yr making it look bad by pulling in yr chin'!
That's why she is my best friend btw!!!
But it has to be your call and also based on yr surgeon's considers opinion.
Also, do consider your age: 45- 50 can be fine - but 55 onwards- menopause etc and the inevitable will occur.
I wouldn't want to do my face, and then have to go back a second time for my neck. Better to wait IMO... and there are some reviews here that attest to regret re neck .
Take your time and you'll make the decision best for you!

January 14, 2020
Ransrvr , are you still scheduled for a FL this month? I'm still trying to get my nerve up to schedule a date.

January 14, 2020
Hi Eddie2!
I actually postponed my surgery. I'm going to do it in the spring time. Just needed more time to save money! I'm actually having Botox next week with her, and I'm planning on going over my plan of attack on my face with her. I do know that my neck is in dyer need of a lift, as well as my lower face.
When are you thinking about doing your next tweaking? Same ps as before??
January 14, 2020
Ha, we should get together and decide whose lower face and neck is more in dyer need.
I had a consult in Sept. w/one of the better ps in my area and I do like him, but every time I'm ready to set the date, I start to wonder if somebody else wouldn't be even better. Mostly, I keep reading that the Deep Plane is a better procedure than just a SMAS that he wants to do, so I keep second guessing myself. I don't know of anybody in my area that is doing the deep plane FL. I think maybe I need to schedule a second consult with him.
Do you know what type your doctor is doing?

Eyes question
My only thing at the moment isn’t eyes !
I’m worried that my brow has shortened .... but could that just be the stitches -??
I will ask Dr - but have to know as it will worry me otherwise .
Any thoughts?

Good morning :). Ask the doc but everything takes time to settle. I thought my lips were too high wen I came out of surgery but they dropped. You look better than I did after my blepharoplasty (which I had separately from the facelift). There is a pic on my original review. Honestly, although you will be able to have an idea of the final result very soon, it really does take 2- 3 months for everything to settle.
January 7, 2020
Actually, looking at your pics on the desktop the results are showing through even with the head support. Your mouth and nose area look way smoother. What I found was although there is a marked difference between my before and after pics when shown side by side most people just tell me I am looking very well or ask if I had botox - lol. I am not 'in the closet' about having work done so I usually tell anyone who asks. My point is that you will still look like you when everything settles - just a younger and fresher version.

January 8, 2020
Thank you Stormsmum!
I was just having a little panic. I called Drs rooms and was reassured. I am feeling better now .
I really appreciate your support and comments too-very helpful and comforting. We really are intrepid women!
Ps: I told my friends , but not work- think I'll use this the Botox story if anyone asks me !

January 8, 2020
I’m a week out from an upper bleph. My crease was made higher than I believe ideal but I’m still in early stages of healing. I’m assuming that is what you mean by shortened eyebrows? You look fabulous so far so maybe we’ve just been looking at our old self fit years. Wishing you the best!!

January 8, 2020
Yes: I agree- that was my exact thought- wondered why it wasn't made more in the crease? But, that said, it seems to be the norm judging by the pictures on RS.
I think all will be well!
January 9, 2020
It actually took a couple of months for my eyes to settle after the upper Bleph. I thought that the incision was not in the crease. I put a slick of skin coloured concealer over my eyelids for several months and that was sufficient. At 16 months out all has settled and I no longer use concealer because the scars are invisible.

January 9, 2020
Yes- I thought mine sounded med a bit high too, but my friend today seemed to think ok.
It's always good to hear other experiences.
Hey Stormy's Mum, I have a question now we are becoming friends- please feel free not to answer tho!
Reading yr story, you speak about your buzz cut. I kinda liked it - but you clearly didn't ! What was your reason for getting it?
Were you kinda busting out after all the stress you had been thru?
I'm sure there is very interesting backstory there !
January 9, 2020
Eyes are particularly sensitive and for the first few months after the Bleph I would wake up some days and find that they were red and/or swollen. This is a normal part of the healing process and will settle. So, after the Bleph I bought a concealer that (as close as possible) matched my skin colour and would put it (thinly) on my eyes from eyelid to eyebrow and my usual make up (if I wore it) on top.The concealer easily covered the healing process. After a few months I did not need to apply the concealer on my eyes but I did use it on the scar from the lip lift if I was going out. A Bleph will not settle down completely for a few months because the eyes are prone to swelling etc. But after 16 months I can say that I am happy and the scares are invisible .

I am happy to answer. I sued Google for defamation and won in 2015. In 2016 I sued it again because it refused to completely remove the content found defamatory in an AU Supreme Court. I lost my career over this. My photo was in the media in 2015 & again in 2016. It was clear how much this battle aged me.
In 2016 I got my head shaved because I was abused in a local supermarket the day after a media article. I walked into the nearest hairdresser and said to take it all off. I actually received death threats and abuse over several years because I stood up to Google. The no 3 was the lowest point.
I wanted to hide- then. But since 2016 I beat Google in the Appellate Court and again in the Supreme Court (self represented). Importantly I started on a process of regaining my health and self esteem and the surgery is part of this. I am sure that I would have still done the surgery irrespective of the stress circumstances because, why not?
But I still have litigation v Google (because I won’t give in to their attempts to bully me in to going away) and hopefully I won’t look so old and stressed in the next lot of media :).

Jewell, I have to say that if all of the Google stress had not happened I still would have absolutely had the surgery. Life is short so why not invest in happiness and confidence. THAT is what surgery buys us. It cannot by itself lengthen or shorten life span or impact on physical health but it males us a hell of a lot happier and does contribute longevity and health because those we are more likely to take care of other health indicators. To the detractors (and there is always a few) I say

January 9, 2020
My God! You are an amazing woman. You took in a megalithic organisation who today rule our lives by stealth - and we all know this - and you did it all alone and won.
I can't imagine what it must have been like for you.
Yes - I agree that life is too short to be unhappy about things that one can change. I think we are fortunate that we were able to do this.
I just really disliked the old face - so glad it's been remediated!
I have to work for as long as possible, and that was another motivator for me too.
I'm a fixer by nature- very solutions focussed - so of course I would do it!!!
Physically, I am fit and healthy- yoga, dance swim etc - so now my face can keep up!!!
January 9, 2020
And your face will keep up with your physical fitness and your confidence with it. Before G I was a health researcher and there is substantial evidence that people who want to keep working beyond the traditional retirement age have way better health outcomes, My Dad finally retired from full time work just shy of his 80th birthday (he was a pilot). Dad lived to be 95.
I still have an ongoing matter v G and I am self represented. It is a full time process but I notice that I have way more confidence since the face lift. I am also advocating for others who find themselves in the same position and writing a book so there is no time to retire to bowls (I will be 64 in a month). I honestly couldn’t stand it (traditional ‘retirement’). The facelift is an investment in happiness in my 60’s and beyond.
In 2 weeks you will really start to feel the new lease on life that this has provided and in 2- 3 months you will be thinking that this was the best thing that you could do for every part of your life in your 60s.

Yes, I was going to ask if you had considered writing a book too. I think your experience is indicative of the power of Google/ Facebook/ YouTube etc . They not only censor what can be said, they also try to control the language used. Moreover, they filter search results that are in keeping with the PC ideology.
You are strong and I get exactly what you mean.
Re retirement, - I'm an adult educator- and I love what I do. But work is difficult to find in QLD due to government cutbacks. However, I have a new mortgage- after finding myself single after a 12 year relationship. So , must work. Luckily, I like work!!
Today, there is no longer a true retirement age. Interesting tho how there is o much discrimination against baby boomers re pensions, jobs and even housing!

Wishing you the best and looking forward to your update!
