Looking at my before and after pictures I am not sure what I paid for; my jawline looks very much the same but I now have an ugly scar and an ear that is attached to my neck instead of my jaw :/ None of which were on my list of cosmetic 'must haves'.
Where the ear lobe is attached, the skin burns and is really tight; but my ear is pulling down not my jawline pulling up, if that makes sense. The end result is my ear lobe looks too wide/long and I now need surgery to 'release' my ear.
I cannot in good faith recommend this Dr.
Personally, I believe DRs should be judged based on how they treat/react to their mistakes; this Dr has (figuratively speaking) run away like a scared little man. He has reneged on fixing my ear at my 3 month review, hence I have to have it fixed elsewhere at my own expense.
Will post again at 3 months.

I think you look good, the back of your ear is going to get better just take time.

Yes scars will heal but the ear needs surgery to move it to where it should be, that costs time, $, pain and anxiety. When a Dr makes a mistake they should be proactive in rectifying the mistake.

I agree but I'm not sure how as a patient we can hold them accountable. I had seen bad surgeries (Botch) and the doctors don't fix the problem or just ignore the patients. I have scheduled a minilift for August but I'm wondering how can I avoid any issues. The surgeon was very fast during my consultation but I found him on realself and he has very good reviews. I hope things get better for you, I can imagine how difficult its been for you.

I have learnt the hard way, and that is ask them at the original consult "what if something goes wrong and what the procedure and protocols are?". If they disregard the question or try and side step saying it won't happen or never does I'd get another opinion from a different surgeon. They should have a protocol that they follow or have in place and any surgeon that does not have one is either arrogant or naive and should be avoided.
I hope your surgery goes well. My 3 month ear revision, with a different surgeon, is this Wednesday.

Hi! I'm in the same boat. 18 months later. Original doctor is supposed to fix me in March with a mini lift. Argh. Have you found someone to redo it?

I saw another DR, but this time changed my approach. If you mention the original DR made a mistake or is hopeless they seem to go into auto pilot defending other DR's. My new approach is I don't like how it looks. With zero emotion or explanation, just ask if they can make it look better. With the Covid chaos I have to wait until the New Year so lock in an appointment.

Thank you for your feed back I appreciate it. Ill will post my pictures once I get my surgery done, I hope everything goes well for you, very sorry for what happened.

Week one to Week 3

I have posted with this update my original before photos and photos of week one to three.
My stitches are healing well, I had the suture that was overlooked removed 2 days ago. My Pixie Ear is looking slightly improved. With my hair down you can't see any of the scabs etc I would not recommend going into public the first week, it was a bit awkward turning my head and I kept the opening and closing my mouth to a minimum. Plus I had the pressure garment on 24/7.
My jaw looks ok, if anything, I hope it tightens up a little more. But it is early days and we'll see where I am at in 3 months.

Hi thanks for sharing your experience. Are you pleased with your results now?

Definitely not. Not sure what I paid for, except for a butchered ear which I now have to pay someone else to fix. I am taking photos each week and will write a thorough update up next week on week 8 :)

I went to Sharp several years ago for fillers & didn't really notice much difference. Waited almost 2 hours & staff rude when I asked how much longer did I have to wait - they had forgotten me.
I got facial injuries in head on accident. Had broken jaw operated on three times. Each time surgeon cut along existing scar. My scars around ears were nothing like those in your photos, mine were (and are) quite fine. Ear totally normal too. I know broken jaw different to neck/jowl lift but I would have thought scarring should be less as it's cosmetic surgery.
How disappointing for you. My doctor was Dr Arvier, based at Wesley but I think he may have retired. Worth a try as excellent surgeon.
Good luck with everything.

The First Week

Pain has been minimal and I do not feel stretched at all around my jaw area, I am hoping that is a good thing :/
My only concern thus far is, the day after surgery, I removed the pressure garment and saw straight away that my left ear was weirdly attached to the side of my neck angling downwards (the recognised term is Pixie Ear). I called the clinic and requested that Dr Sharp attend the one week Post Op visit. The appointment was supposed to be suture removal by the nurse only but I was advised the Dr was at the clinic at the time of my appointment and he would 'duck in for a quick chat and have a look'.
At the week one Post Op visit I showed the Dr my Pixie Ear and he advised it may just look a bit weird because of swelling and that it may right itself once the swelling subsided. He also took the opportunity to remind me again that I had a deformity and asked if I remembered he did point this out to me during surgery :/ He advised that he would consider doing a review, (if necessary, at my 3month Post Op review, which I was happy to hear
It is only now when I look at the pics that I see my face was more swollen than I thought it was, my ear looks slightly better and I will post a pic at one month Post-Op.

Ensure at the consult they have a good feel of your face and watch it move in its natural setting
Make them listen to you the patient
Ask them what their approach is when things go wrong. When do they address it, Is there an additional cost and have they had any negative results, how did they approach it?
I am hoping others will read my review and ask their DR during the consult about 'Pixie Ear' side effect and how their DR would avoid it, why it happens and how the Dr will fix it and the time frame they'd do it in.
Lastly, see a few DRs. I think DRs should refund the consult if you choose them, it can be expensive just going in to chat to them which usually limits the amount of Drs you go see. If the Doc is over confident and you feel they are not speaking to you as an individual (cookie cutter approach) run :)
