**Corrective Surgery for Poor Mommy Makeover Results**

WORTH IT$13,500
In March of 2018 I had a mommy makeover through Dr. Obaid at North TX Plastic Surgery. Please see my prior review on that experience. Fast forward to January 2019, and I ended up going to another plastic surgeon and spending in excess of $13k for corrective surgery due to the first procedure. My original procedure was “the works” - breast lift with implants, tummy tuck with lipo of the flanks and back, and a Brazilian butt lift. The corrective procedure consisted of scar revisions, touch up lipo to the flanks to fix the lopsidedness, a tummy tuck revision to ACTUALLY sew the muscles back to the abdominal wall (I am not convinced Dr. Obaid ever actually did this), and additional work to fix two retained sutures in each nipple from the breast lift. I also then paid for new areas of liposuction to my hips, inner and outer thighs, and arms; and he removed skin cancer from my ear and did a skin graft.
From the start, Dr. Harris was very kind, and very honest. He even encouraged me to go back to Dr. Obaid to try and work out my concerns with him, but I chose not to because of how I was treated during my 8 month post op appt. Dr. Harris and Mona met with me twice before surgery to go over my concerns. They took their time answering all of my questions and were very informative. I then met with Kristen for my pre-op and she went through all of the paperwork and was very thorough/detailed in all that was to be expected. Considering the disappointing experience I had with Dr. Obaid, needless to say I had a lot of questions, concerns, and nerves around going through this surgery again, and everyone was very kind, patient and understanding with me.
I had the surgery last Wednesday, 1/23, and everything went really well. While I am only a week post-op, so far I am very happy with my results. Dr. Harris and his OR nurse spent a lot of time with me prior to taking me back for surgery. He mapped out everything on my body with pen and really took his time going over all of my concerns and wishes. When Dr. Obaid did the BBL, he injected a lot of fat into my hips, and it was not at all the “look” I was wanting. Dr. Harris outlined his plans and talked through all of the areas he was going to be doing corrective lipo on.
The surgery took approximately 3 hrs and I was in recovery for about 2. I don’t remember much of my time in recovery, but the surgery went well and I had zero complications. While I was on 12 different RXs when Dr. Obaid did my Mommy Makeover, I was prescribed only 4 through Dr. Harris’ office - Norco, Diazapam, an antibiotic, and an anti-nausea medicine.
For my post op appt the day after surgery I met with nurse Gayla. She is sooooo amazing. She has great energy and was super sweet and gentle, considering the amount of pain and the procedure I had just had. Dr. Harris even popped in to the room to ask how I was doing and check things out. The worst part of the post op appt was the fact that I almost passed out! It is the absolute worst feeling in the world, something I had never experienced before. Gayla was my hero - she sat me down, fanned me, used smelling salts, and got me a coke to get some sugar in me. When I say she is the sweetest woman, I am not exaggerating! She’s been with Dr. Harris for 20+ years, and it shows in how they interact with each other, and they’re clearly on the same page when it comes to their bedside manner.
I just had my one-week post op appt yesterday and met with Kristen. The pathology report came back and Dr. Harris got all of the skin cancer from my ear - yay!! As usual, Kristen was great. She removed the steri strips from my tummy tuck incision and the two stitches that were in my nipples from the retained sutures from the original procedure. I cannot believe how much easier this recovery and post op expectations have been when compared to the first surgery... I only wish I had Dr. Harris perform the surgery from the start!! I am almost completely off my pain meds, the compression garment I am in is much more comfortable, and the “artistry” associated with Dr. Harris’ closing/stitching incisions, scar revisions, etc is amazing. I am not trying to downplay his ability to be aggressive in attacking fat with lipo, though! He removed two liters of fat from my body - amazing, considering I just had a tummy tuck and a lot of lipo in March.
More posts and pictures to follow so stay tuned for updates throughout my recovery.
I want to thank everyone who has been extremely supportive and taken the time to share caring words/messages with me as I go through this process!

I couldn’t edit the photos with my original post, so here they are. These photos show the pre-op photos outlining the concerns associated with the original procedure, and then 1-week post-op pics showing progress from the corrective surgery with Dr. Harris.

2-Week PO

DallasMom13
I went in on Tuesday for my 2-week PO. As usual, everyone was great. I met with Dr. Harris’ nurse Kristen and she walked me through the next stages of healing. I get to get out of the initial compression garments and switch to Spanx, or something similar (that will be a separate entry talking about what I’ve purchased, what I like, etc in an effort to help those of you reading this from spending a ton of money and then not liking what you purchase because these CGs are EXPENSIVE!)
So back to my appt. Kristen advised me that I need to massage the lipo areas 3xs/day. It seems excessive, but I am willing to follow exactly what they say to do. So far my results speak to the doctor’s level of expertise and perfection, so I am listening and following every word! I also am now starting to treat all of my scars with Mepitac tape - 3 days on/1 day off. This tape has also been amazing - it stays on through showers, lotion massages, and doesn’t lose it’s stickiness at all.
While I was at my appt Dr. Harris popped in... can you believe it?? I actually saw the doctor! When I had my first Mommy Makeover, I never once even caught sight of Dr. Obaid. Dr. Harris came in, checked on my results and even brought two other nurses in (he asked my permission first) - 1 of them assisted him in the OR and the other one took the initial pre-op photos.
He remains awesome throughout this whole experience - trustworthy, upbeat, but realistic as well. I know I need to be patient because I am still so swollen, but so far I’m loving what I see. Dr. Harris reminded me that it’s only going to get better once my swelling goes down!
Here’s my recommendation for those of you going through this process - bring a notepad and write down instructions. Even if it seems like you’re having an informal conversation with the nurse about something, you will likely forget some of what you need to do between your 2-week PO and the next time you go into the office for a check up. Kristen was extremely patient with me while I wrote down all of the instructions - exercise restrictions, massage instructions, GP garments, etc. I’m a veteran at this (unfortunately), but every office will tell you something slightly different, and if you trust your doctor and want great results - follow their instructions!
