Bad Results and Horrible Experience
Short version: Her care and surgical work are both awful.
Long version:
Dr. Burt was the first surgeon I had a consultation with for a breast reduction. The consultation lasted about 10minutes and everything was very rushed. It was a bit off putting but figured this was all routine for her and nothing will happen until insurance approves anyway.
Insurance approved and I didn’t know if I could go with a different surgeon after the approval so I stayed with Dr. Burt thinking she may be different now that I’ve committed to the surgery.
The second time I saw the surgeon was at my pre-op appointment 2 weeks before surgery. The appointment lasted about 5 mins. Dr. Burt rushed through the meeting and would not even stop to listen to what I wanted in regards to size and shape.
Then the nurse came in and rushed through all the aftercare instructions. I could barely keep up! I have never had a doctor or nurse talk so quickly and make me feel like such a burden than this surgeon and nurse.
At my 2 week followup, the surgeon quickly ripped the tapes off, took a glance at my breast and said everything looked fine and then she left (1 min total). After she left I realized parts of my incisions were open and bleeding a little bit. I didn’t know what to do as I didn’t want to get blood on my bra.
I put on a shirt and went outside to look for the doctor or nurse so someone could tell me how to take care of my open incisions. I could not believe I had to do that, it was so humiliating. The nurse finally came in after I had to ask her twice!
The surgeon and nurse did not care about me before the surgery and they did not care after either.
Results:
I told the surgeon that I did not want nipples that were high and I showed her pictures of what I wanted. The results I received are one nipple that is at a perfect level and one that is too high...so yes you can see in my pictures that they do not look symmetrical in any way. It’s a bit comical as the higher nipple will poke out of some bras.
I can forgive the surgeon for the nipples as I know this stuff cannot be perfect but if you look at my pictures you will see red markings surrounding every incision.
I have never seen these red markings on anyone’s breast reduction pictures. I do not know what they are. I asked the surgeon and she didn’t tell me why I had them and no one else does. It’s bad enough having regular breast reduction scars but these are not normal and make my breasts look extremely unattractive.
I should have trusted my gut feeling from the consultation that this surgeon did not care for me but I didn’t and now I’m stuck with botched incisions.
