BOTCHED by Dr Dirk Lazarus in Cape Town-
Revision Required in Australia

The photos speak for themselves.
I underwent a breast augmentation and breast lift surgery with Dr Dirk Lazarus in Cape Town due to my original implants being over 10 years old. Unfortunately, the outcome was deeply disappointing and completely unacceptable. The incisions made on each breast were completely different . Therefore my breasts were not at all symmetrical, nor were my nipples.
My right breast had a ‘puckering’ near the vertical incision which made me feeling abnormal and self-conscious. The left breast had a hollowing near the cleavage.
In addition, I paid for blepharoplasty to be performed at the same time. I woke up with a vertical suspension brow lift instead. Dr Lazarus had taken out some fat from the corner of my eyes but did not complete the blepharoplasty.
After 2 weeks I insisted he remove the suspension threads as I looked like a monster. I begged him to do the blepharoplasty as agreed upon. When he finally did - what he called ‘microsurgery’ he left me once again with uneven scarring.

BOTCHED!!

I ultimately had to undergo a revision surgery in Australia to correct both my breasts and eyelids.
The surgeon here was professional and kind, choosing not to speak poorly of Dr Lazarus. However, he did make it clear that the results I was left with were far from acceptable.

What added insult to injury was the dismissive attitude I encountered post-surgery by Dr Lazarus.
He told me during a post op checkup that the anaesthetist had been in a hurry to get to her hair appointment that Friday night.
If that is not unprofessional- I do t know what is!!

The total cost of this experience, including surgery and accommodation, came to around AUD $25,000.
Plus the cost of the flights – for what I can only describe as a devastating ordeal that required further corrective surgery.

In my experience, Dr Lazarus showed a concerning lack of accountability and empathy. It felt as though patient wellbeing came second to personal convenience and profit. I’m sharing this in the hope that others will approach with more caution and make fully informed decisions. Just because a surgeon agrees to perform a surgery does not mean they are good at that particular procedure.
