Wouldn’t Recommend …

I chose to go with Marion and Mark because of a friends recommendation, however my friend had the procedure 9 years ago so I should have spent more time looking at other surgeons.
I met with marks wife Marion initially, she told me I was over weight and was quite pushy wanting to do the surgery at the end of the same month. She didn’t give me a great feeling but I waited until I met mark to make my mind up as his consultation was included in the price I paid.
Mark is easy going, and made me feel a lot better when I met him so I decided to go ahead with the surgery. A week before my surgery I had Marion demanding a letter from my liver consultant and a blood test which I don’t routinely have, saying the surgery couldn’t go ahead if these weren't received.Conflicting information from both Marion and mark was constant, mark said I had to stop smoking where as Marion just told me the risks. Marion said I needed a gp letter due to my anti depressants where as mark said I didn’t. There were more that I won’t list. The whole set up is confusing as you meet Marion first who gives you the impression that she does the surgery with mark but I believe it’s the other way round as you never see her again.
I had my surgery at Kingston private health, the staff are friendly but considering I was a self paying patient I wasn’t impressed at all, when I came round I had a funny turn when trying to get up to go to the toilet. I couldn’t stomach the pasta I ordered so asked for toast or a sandwich instead, I was left for 4 hours and had to ask again for food. I had staff gossiping outside my room so couldn’t sleep - I have a recording of this. I also had to ask for 2 hours for my cannula to be taken out as I was ready to go home. I wasn’t given any pain medication to go home with.
My first follow up with mark was pretty pointless, I didn’t have the dressings removed and feel like I could have just sent pictures. My second follow up I had the dressings removed and my incisions were a little wet and slightly open so mark advised for me to wear brown tape on them and remove when showering. The brown tape pulled out stitches and scabs whenever I took it off, I checked with mark and he advised to carry on with it.
Three weeks post op my incisions were still slightly open and now they were yellow/white colour inside. I was concerned so sent Marion a message on what’s app as saw she was online. Mark then messaged and saw me the following day. I sat down to be examined and mark reassured me that he didn’t think the incisions were infected, he took swabs to see what if anything was growing. A week later I then receive an invoice in the post for £408.00 to pay for the swabs taken to which I still haven’t received the results for. At no point was I asked if I was happy for the swabs to be taken, nor was I told I would have to pay. Mark is now telling me that the costs are for me to bear and should I wish to have another follow up with him then this will be a further £180.
I have chosen not to have a further follow up, I wish I had listened to the red flags at the beginning and chosen a different surgeon for my procedure. In all honesty other than the large scars I am probably going to be left with I am pleased with the results but wouldn’t have recommend mark or Marion to anyone but I also wouldn’t have left a negative review had it not been for the way I have been treated in the last week.
