Cookie Cutter Injecting Caused Complications

Cookie Cutter Injecting Caused Me Complications

KimJTexas
I recently moved to Dallas and needed to find a new Botox injector. I have been getting Botox consistently for 9 years. I went to one other establishment in my former city before finding the med spa where a nurse injector (MSN) did my Botox treatments exclusively until I moved to Dallas. In my research, I really struggled to find someone that I felt I could trust here. After reading many reviews on different doctors and various med spas, I was so relieved to have found someone I felt almost certain would be qualified through mere education level alone. The price was also very reasonable hence the two stars. The "good" pretty much ended there. Education cannot account for lack of experience as it turns out.
I went to Dr. Bader twice. The first time went ok. He injected more than I usually get given the time that had passed since my last treatment (I keep detailed logs which I provided to the office after the fact), but it had been longer than usual between treatments because of my move so I didn't think much of it. The second time he injected WAY too much for my specific needs. I experienced complications I am still waiting-out to resolve today. Complications that I experienced such as shelving of my cheeks (chipmunk cheeks), bunny lines on my nose, and dry/droopy/drowsy eyes are ALL the result of too much Botox in the crow’s feet area and forehead area, and a lack of really evaluating how my facial muscles move. Dr. Bader was very "cookie cutter" about his technique and number of units injected. By all means the man had to go on a family vacation later that day. He simply couldn’t be bothered to take the necessary time and now I am suffering the consequences of that.
There is a lack of communication between him, the patient and the aesthetician he employs also. Both times I was not able to obtain the exact number of unit placed in which areas. The aesthetician Sarah had to follow up to decipher his notes each time. Sarah is also the one who followed up with me when I called to explain what had resulted a few weeks later. I asked for Dr. Bader to be notified of the situation, thinking surely he would want to personally follow up-- but he couldn't be bothered and I still haven't heard from him to this day. I literally had no idea it was the lack of proper injection in regards to the depth, placement and amount that was causing my issues. I figured it out by researching for hours online. I thought I was getting a severe sinus infection.
I have now endured two months of these side effects, and every time I look at a picture from a prior evening or dinner out I get so angry. This should not have happened and was 100% preventable. Though I will be able to recover from this as time goes on, I finally decided today that it should be made public the major problems that I have had with Dr. Bader as a Botox injector. I didn’t take making the decision to write this review lightly at all.
My suggesting to Dr. Bader is to stop worrying about what obnoxiously ridiculous shoes he might put on that day and take a LONG course from someone who does injections all day long. Board certifications or not, when it comes to injectables he's all but a ROOKIE right now-- and it shows.

I’m having the same thing. My dents are under the eyes when I smile and my cheeks puff up. How long did it last?

Hi, mine lasted until the botox wore off about 3.5 months later. It will wear off...just depends on how fast for each individual. Best of luck:)

Oh good, there is hope. I’m glad it wore off. Did you see it softening over time or did it wear off overnight?

I've been getting botox for 10 years, so I knew exactly how long the amount he put would take. But it was gradual.

I just went to a PS last week because I moved from NY to FL and still can not find a injector who listens or honest! This PS consult tried to upsell mega units I know would drop me or mephisto etc! He refused to take the time to look at photos from previous injectors who would not listen. My doctor in NY established what works best for me. And it always works out beautiful! I know my injection sites, amount of units and depth needed and I told him I did not feel comfortable with what HE wanted to inject me with! He was mad and refused to treat me because I would not go along with his high units. Unbelievable the lack of disclosure, respect, proper facial muscle assessment and patient prior history experience to Botox amount and sites. I've literally had injectors not listen and unethically "sneak" in extra units to try and prove me wrong! And guess what? I had to live with mephisto, ptosis, drop brow or puppy dog sad look for months! I can not believe the audacity of a medical professional doing this, yet I know they did! It's so scary. The two physicians who did this prior (sneak in extra units and a site laterally on my forehead) I knew they did it! And they owned the practice! But they would never admit it, so I just go somewhere else! It's totally disgusting and shameful..
I wish you continued wearing off of this experience and hope it resolves. It's now established by evidence based practice that Botox is not a one fit for all. Knowledge of depth, facial muscles, number of units and sites are customized to each patient is prudent and necessary! So many places it seems their ego and $$!! Praying for you! I'm to the point now I want to see the mL in syringe and mirror to watch them! It's crazy!
