22 days postop!
I feel okay. The epidermis layer of my skin feels numb but its tender to touch. Still swelling a little bit. I cant workout 100% yet but can walk at a quick pace and jog with caution. I feel sore as if ive been working out and feel extra tight. Im at the phase where the areas treated are hard and lumpy due to scar tissue and seroma. I was told that scar tissue is expected and encourage during the healing process the nurse massages it out and i massage every morning and night before bed with skin firming lotion. At first, i was very nervous about the fluid buildup but the seromas are easily removed and can be painful. The area gets numbed with lidocaine and huge needle sucks out the fluid, a very quick fix. Ive been going back to see the nurse every weekend to receive lymphatic massage and removal of seromas. Next weekend theyre going to use Velashape (complimentary) on the areas treated to smooth things out some more. I will keep you all posted on how things go for me. New pictures are coming soon!

After reading hundreds of reviews about Smartlipo...

After reading hundreds of reviews about Smartlipo and vaser lipo I had mixed feelings, scared and excited. I've been thinking about getting this procedure done for 3 years and finally went forth and made a consultation. I am 23 years old and I work out 4-5 days a week and never could get rid of my stubborn lower belly fat! I've changed my diet according to my metabolism type and still it would not go away. I figured I'm young and im suppose to look good, my arms and legs are in great shape it was just my abs and flanks that kept changing size. Anyway, the consultation went great and the Dr was brutally honest. At first, I only wanted work on my lower abs but he points out my flanks, lower back, upper and lower abs, would make it look just right which i agree with 100%. I thought to myself that the trunk area is my only problem area and i should do it all at once. After the consultation, I was given 14 days to think it through (quote is good for only 14 days). After reading more reviews I decided to make an appointment. The staff was very pleasant, punctual, and knowledgable. They made it so easy for me. My prescriptions were filled to the closest pharmacy from me, i was given thorough directions of pre and post op care and they made any arrangements that needed to be made so that i was ready. all of my questions were asked.

Day of procedure Sunday March 20th,2011

(Staff called to make sure I had everything packed and ready to go since i was a traveling patient)

Procedure was scheduled at 8am. Staff made sure i had something to eat (make sure you eat something! or you'll feel sick bc of the meds)We took before pictures, i got marked, Dr was very thourough he claims to be a perfectionist and i can see that! THen i was sedated. Everyone made me feel super comfortable, they were positive and uplifting, making me feel more at ease. I was nervous not about the procedure but about the results. Towards the end I was awake. Dr told me to stand up and tons of fluid drained out of me. I laid back down and he worked more on my abs and back. It was PAINFUL! I felt the pinching and pulling, the area could have been numbed a little bit more but finally he was done. Nurse walked me back into the room, apparently i was chatting up a storm making everyone laugh but i dont really remember what i was saying. My driver was outside waiting for me. a puppy pad was laidout on the car seat to protect from drainage. Then i was on my to the hotel.

Make sure you have someone with you to help with everything!! I didnt and it was so hard to even go to the bathroom, change my pads, get in and out of bed, or rollover. Simple tasks were so hard to do because it was either very painful or i was dizzy and felt nausuated. First night and day after is the hardest. I had so much draining the first day that i had to change it every 4 hours and changed it in the shower because it can get very messy. I rested a lot, drank plenty of SMartwater because it contains electrolytes to hydrate the body (didnt want gatorade bc of the sugar) had plenty of fruits especially pineapple since it aids in bruising and stayed away from salty foods because it retains water. Trust me, being bloated is not cute. I wore by full body garment 24/7 and suppose to for 2 weeks. i took it off for a shower 24hrs after the procedure and to wash it. took my meds like im suppose to and after the 2nd day i walked on the treadmill for at least 30 mins at a slow pace. The hardest part about walking post op is my body wants to hunch over from the pain but BAD idea i had to fight to keep my posture upright so that my abs can heal nicely. I already see results! some bruising and swelling on the hips but its only been 4 days and it only gets better from here!

I went back to the office for 4 days for a lymphatic massage, it helps so much with the draining but it hurts like hell. Before i go i take 2 vics 30 mins before and i practice my breathing. This massage is very important bc it helps with the healing process, gives you better results, and with the draining.

I was prepared with the supplies for this procedure. If you decide to go for it make sure you have the following: puppy pads to protect bed and carseat. maxi pads without wings, lg. surgical dressings, cotton balls, hydrogen peroxide, topical oinment for incision sites, tape for dressing and pads, wet wipes, lots of fluids, and someone to help take care of you.

Overall a great decision, picking the right doctor is crucial because anyone can use the machine but its how its being used. The Dr is an artist, he sculpted my body nicely, i am 100% happy with this procedure. The only downfall is wearing the compression garment everywhere under clothes but its a small price to pay for great results.

Hes a perfectionist, artist, very friendly, has a good sense of humor, listens to my needs, answers all of my questions, price was reasonable, very accomodating, and what sold me is that he teaches other plastic surgeons and doctors on how to perform body sculpting with vaser/ smartlpio triplex.
