WORTH IT
Three years ago, I suddenly noticed lines in my that I'd never noticed before. In the ensuing time, the lines became rolls. I was very distraught as I'd always had a long, beautiful neck.
Of course I turned to the wonderful Dr. Leif Rogers, the Beverly Hills physician who had performed a great reduction and tummy tuck procedure in 2014. He is truly a master surgeon and whatever the journey might bring, I trusted him to get best outcome. I say that, because however skilled your surgeon, I know that each situation is unique. People heal differently and face different issues depending on so many factors. I believe you must go into any cosmetic procedure with eyes and mind wide open. You'll never have the exact same course as someone else you might read about. It's imperative you trust your physician to care for you and any and all issues for months beyond your surgery date.
Here are some before photos, illustrating my issue.

In addition to my neck lift, I had CO2 laser treatment to my face, neck and chest. This is something that is definitely easier to tolerate when one is under general anesthesia! One of my greatest fears going into surgery was that I'd awaken feeling "on fire" or sunburned from the laser. Happy to report I had no such sensation at all. I'm sure this was due to various methods of pain control that are easier to administer to a sleeping patient (shots, cold air/compresses, numbing creams).
I was able to stay in an aftercare facility for three nights. I definitely recommend this if possible. I had a tough time tolerating any, I repeat any, water, food or beverages, making the first 24 hours challenging. (List weight!) On the plus side, I had little pain from surgery itself. Oddly, the back of my head hurt against my pillows, as if I were sleeping with rollers. Bothersome, but not horrific. Once I could eat, I was on Norco for about five days. Also Valium to help with sleep and general relaxation.
I believe because of the laser I was far more swollen than the average neck lift. I share this awful picture to give hope to those in the early days. Things get better quickly, at first.

Thank you for posting! I had severe nausea after twilight anesthesia! Couldn't keep anything down for several hours! It must have been funny to see staff chasing me around with a sickness container until I could reach the bathroom! How nice that you stayed in an aftercare facility. I would think that would give you great comfort knowing your experts were close at hand .

Funny you should mention this. My one complaint about the after care is this: rather than a typical hospital setting, the place I went was a luxury hotel where nurses were hired to watch over you. When I began throwing up, I grabbed the trash bin from beneath the desk. For the next three days, that was my receptacle. Spending so much money to throw up in a trash can felt weird!! Glad those days are passed!

Thanks for the reply andy, how many days do you need to return to see doctor? Im thinking to do it but live overseas, and thinking how long will i need to stay there.

For my course of care, the doctor's nurses came to see me the two days following surgery while I was in after care. Then I saw the doctor weekly for about a month. Then every two weeks. I had some sores behind my ears, and he wanted to see me as they resolved. Dr Rogers is really wonderful about after care.
I think if you could stay here at least three weeks you would be okay. The selfcare routine becomes pretty automatic.
