Since 40 my skin is breaking out again. Mostly comedonal non inflamed acne on my face & upper trunk. Im also looking to correct lines, spots, texture & scars. The most recent derm prescribed me .05 as a compounded version of Tazorac with niacinamide. Ive read great/ horrible stories about Tazorac. Any advice would be greatly appreciated on how to ease my skin into it. Or if I should even use it at all. Is There an initial break out? How long does it take to work? My skin is very sensitive.
I have 0.1% cream and gel version of Tazorac, but I read only the cream is approved by FDA for treating photodamage. Will the gel not work? I've heard the gel version is stronger so would it be more effective if it does work for treating photodamage? 0.1% tretinoin vs Tazorac which is better for improving photodamage? I read tretinoin binds to more receptors what is the difference? Does this mean tretinoin is superior since Tazorac does not bind to alpha receptors if so in what way is it better?
I have recently switched to .1% tazorac cream from .05% tret and my skin was never inflamed nor peeling too much. I was expecting to see my face to be inflamed and peeling for moving up to a really strong retinoid. Is this normal for some to tolerate taz really well? Although I have to note that I see some bits of small dandruff-like peels on the columella of my nose and on my chin, but I attribute it to my recent dermapen session (3 days prior). But shouldn't dermapen increase taz absorption?
I am using Tazorac almost nightly to treat my mild to cystic acne. I have olive to tan skin and I scar easily. I have many deep scars throughout my face due to my severe cystic acne. I would like to get a facial to help with the blemishes and texture of my skin. I am also have some hyperpigmention on the top of my lips. Any advice about how to improve my skin tone and texture would be greatly appreciated.
I'm 60 yrs old, and have suffered from acne all my life. Although I'm post menopausal, I've still got very oily skin, and have increasing sebaceous hyperplasia. Retin A made my skin oilier, so I've stopped. Wondering if Tazorac will help with this condition. If not, do you have another suggestion? Thank you!
My nightly regimen is PanOxly10% facial wash followed by pea sized amount of Tazorac0.1% spread all over my face. I was recommended this for acne treatment and have been following it religiously since February (8months). Now my skin is fine, no more acne. My question is; can I stay on this routine permanently (forever) or is it only good for a period? If I can stay on it permanently are there side effects like reaching a point of 'diminishing returns'?
