Hi, I need some advice whether I should get septoplasty or not, whether it is worth it, what benefits can I experience. I'm 28 year old male, height: 5'11, weight: 78kg, Indian. I feel I have a deviated septum, most of the time I have difficulty breathing from the left nostril, right nostril breathing is fine. During summers sometime I experience nose bleeds especially when my nose get dry, I think all of my nose bleeds came from the left nostril.
I have had frequent nosebleeds since childhood, dryness and constant blockage on either side. My question is: Can a plastic surgeon diagnose my nasal condition(polyps, valve collapse, turbinates, deviated septum) during a consultation in his office or do I have to go to an ENT and then bring a letter with the result to the plastic surgeon?
Additionally, I've always gotten nose drip and found it difficult to breath properly specifically through one side of my nose. I've gone to the ENT and a specialist but they've only given me sprays or burned vessels but they never seemed to work as I continue to have these symptoms to the point where I am just tired. Researching, I came across discovering the septoplasty procedure and over a year have been wondering if this would be beneficial for me, as I also notice I have a deviated septum.
I've had a septoplasty almost 2 yrs ago and it resulted in a septal perforation. It is roughly 1-1.5cm length and around 0.5cm in height/ a qtip is unable to pass through. I've tried living with it, and I'm sick of the constant nosebleeds, crusting and having to clean my nose multiple times a day. I am looking into permanent solutions to this problem. I'm terrified of my nose collapsing. Is it fixable with 1 surgery? What is the best type of surgery for this? And how do I find a reliable doctor?
I had Septorhinoplasty two yrs. ago. No issues at that time. Recently I awoke to a severe nosebleed from no trauma. Two days later I gently blew it and again another severe nosebleed that wouldn't stop so I went to the E.R. They referred me to an E. N T. I am wondering if the Septorhinoplasty is to blame since I never had a nosebleed to this level before the surgery. The blood just pours like a faucet from my nose. Very scary.
I recently saw an ENT, who confirmed I had a substantial deviated septum which has caused dry throat, nose bleeds, etc.. As you can see by my pictures, I have a lot going on with my nose. My question is this: if I have the septoplasty, but nothing else done to my nose, can the septum become deviated again because my nose is crooked? It seems the older I get, the more my nose twists. If this is the case, I will consider plastic surgery to correct the twisted nose or whatever necessary.
I am a 44 year old female who underwent rhino/septo 21 months ago. My skin is medium thickness, I'd say. Weight 155/Height 5'8. My surgeon did a good job on the rhino, and my septum is now straight. However, between the general tissue swelling, a lower turbinate on the right side that is larger and presses up against the septum and the abnormality of lower cartilage that turns in, and horrible nose bleeds from one spot I can barely breathe through my nose. Septo, turbs reduces, spurs removed and cart strips placed for collapsed wall.
