The steri strip that was covering stitches at the base of the septum fell off (kept sliding down my lip) and now the stitches are exposed. I have stitches to the side of each nostril also, covered by strips. I am probably being extra anxious for no reason but is this going to be ok or should the stitches not be left without the steri strip? I'm in day 5 of 1 week recovery with another appt in 3 days. I am applying ointment and ocean spray but was not instructed to clean t(hence dried blood).
My nose is very swollen which I expected but I am worried that it is more so because I do not have a splint over my nose, just steri strips. I had open rhinoplasty and septoplasty to remove hump and straighten nose. Why would my surgeon chose to not use a splint?
Seeking advice on post-op procedure and speeding up the healing process/ minimizing scars. It was stitched twice, 2 weeks apart, as skin did not uniting the first time. Should I start the silicon gel now or should I continue to use the steri-strips to unite the skin and hope that it connects faster? What would make the skin connect faster, the hole close and the scar to be minimal? Can I exercise? Can I do facials or mud face masks?
I'm currently 7 days post op and my cast has been removed yesterday. My Dr. Informed me to apply tape morning and night on my nose for two weeks. Is this safe? And should I use steri-strip?
I just recently had a rhinoplasty. After the removal of the cast and the stitches, steri-strips were placed on the site of the Weir incisions. The strips are already beginning to fall off and they were only placed there 2 days ago. The nurse practitioner said the goal was for them to stay on one week. I will be going back to work in 2 days- would it be okay to remove them before my return or will I be risking any development of an infection and/or deformity?
