Im 47 in great health. Will my skin shrink around the new nose after reductive rhinoplasty???? My concern is that I dont want to reduce too much and end up with excess scar tissue and possible deformity. I have been told that I have thicker skin but not thick. The surgeon (highly reputable) I consulted with is proposing quite a change.
Do nostrils still shrink after closed rhinoplasty? All the photos my surgeons showed were still on the operating table and everyones nostrils were super huge, prbably because of all the tools being inserted, but after how long will they shrink again? I want my nnstrills a lot shorter, mnot narower, shorter. I hav no idea what the end result is going to ne because my surgeon doesnt do 3d models to not make expectations that cant be met but now he doesnt know my wishes. Shall i just trust him?
Hi,I had my rhinoplasty with turbinates reduction on 1st of August 2018.I had a hump on the bridge, and long, drooppy nose. The hump is solved, the nose is smaller, although I'm not that happy with the tip,in my opinion looks droopy. Can this be result from swollen tip,it will lift once the inflammation decrease?or this is it? My surgeon said I have lots of skin that needs to settle on the new cartilage.
I'm tossing between rib or ear diced cartilage fascia for my dorsum. Want to raise bridge 3mm high. Im afraid rib will ossify and eventually dissolve over time BUT also afraid that ear won't be strong enough and eventually shrink on the bridge. I want my next to be my last revision. Which graft has a better chance of being permanent? Is it truly known what would happen 10+ years? Will rib ossify/dissolve like bone grafts or would the fibrous tissue in between the pieces hold diced boney grafts together?
I've been reading about how patients who had rhinoplasty done 10 or 20 years ago can later suffer shrinkage of the surrounding tissues, which results in a pinched look and breathing difficulties, is this long term risk very common with rhinoplasty? Or are these just cases where too much cartilage was removed?
Basically the question speaks for itself, are there any massage techniques or anything I can do to make my squishy, excess skin nose try to shrink wrap over my new nasal framework?
Hi, I had an open septo/rhinoplasty 1st Feb (5 months ago). After cast removal it was more defind and narrow from the tip. It started to swell more after 3 months, the tip become more round and has no definition. My tip is still stiff and feels hard, I like my profile however from the front it looks wide specially in the morning where it swell the most. From my pictures do you think it is possible that the tip will shrink with time and refine it self more or will I need a revision. Appreciate your advice.
I'm 15 days post opp. I feel like I look the same. My nose is still very tender and I am still in pain. My left size bulbous top tip is developing a hard spot. It feels almost like a large vein. Is this normal? I know they say to wait up to a year but can it really shrink that much to make my nose look small?
I don't have any allergies, but I have always been congested unilaterally 2nd to septal deviation. I had surgery 3 weeks ago and took out the plastic struts today. I'm still congested and I feel this is turbinate related because it temporarily responds to saline irrigation. How long should I wait to see if turbinates shrink back to normal before turbinectomy? Thank you
