35 yo female. I had a mole removed from my face 5 months ago. It was a shave removal and the doctor cauterised the area afterwards. It has healed mostly flat (with only a very minor indentation), but I am still struggling with texture and discolouration issues. I have been using silicone gel/plasters everyday for more than 4 months, since I am prone to keloid scarring. Would a retinoid help to improve this type of scar? Or are there any other topical ingredients that would help?
To aid in reducing my PIH, I was prescribed tretinoin 0.025% and Azelaic acid 15% topical cream. Is it worth it to take the risk with tretinoin, or should I just stick with Azelaic acid? I would like something to smooth the dull texture of my skin and erase hyperpigmentation. My skin is slightly sensitive and when my acne does occur, I experience small comedones and textural irregularities.
I have been using Tretinoin .05% regularly for about 2 months now. Most of my face is making great improvements both with fine lines and cystic hormonal acne. However, my lower mouth area and chin have not only been red and peeling (which I expected), but it is very bumpy with small under the skin zits? Now my chin has the texture of a Pringles potato chip. Is this just my skin purging and this will improve? I am 34 and did not have any fine lines in this area prior.
Hello! I have used Tretinoin 0,05% for the past 2 months to improve texture, glow and prevent lines. I have used it every night since I started as my skin is not sensitive and Im too impatient to start slowly. The first month I peeled to an extreme extent, whilst now you can only see the peel when I apply makeup. Now, when my skin is bare, its become so glowy and I receive lots of compliments. But makeup still looks so-so, as Im apparently still dried out. How long will this last? Thank you!
I have many red & brown post-acne marks. I've been using Retin-A (.025%) for 2 weeks now. I started using it every 2 to 3 days since I'd get really dry skin. After a week, I had no dry skin so I've been applying it (a pea sized amount for my entire face) every night. I wear SPF 55 everyday. I've noticed my skin is no longer textured/rough or bumpy. But my red and brown acne marks seem to have gotten larger & darker, is this normal? Should I be concerned about the hyper-pigmentation? Thank you.
I had faint fine lines and hyperpigmentation on my upper lip. Derm said to use OTC retinol, but the retinol traveled up the lines and lightened them and seemingly caused new lines. Now I'm using Environ's retinol, Vita-Peptide C-Quench. I notice many MORE lines on each side of my upper lip and an orange peel texture. Is retinol thinning the skin to create more lines? Will it ever thicken the skin? I don't know if I should discontinue using retinol/Vitamin A or if I need to stick to it.
I've been using Retin-A 0.05 in the morning and at night for about a month now. I feel like my skin has gotten worse though, even drier and rougher than before. I use a moisturizer twice a day, sometimes use coconut oil or Bio-Oil to soothe inflammation, and I try to drink lots of water, eat healthy, etc. What should I do? Asking before I make a dermatologist appt. Thank you!
