I had faint fine lines and hyperpigmentation on my upper lip. Derm said to use OTC retinol, but the retinol traveled up the lines and lightened them and seemingly caused new lines. Now I'm using Environ's retinol, Vita-Peptide C-Quench. I notice many MORE lines on each side of my upper lip and an orange peel texture. Is retinol thinning the skin to create more lines? Will it ever thicken the skin? I don't know if I should discontinue using retinol/Vitamin A or if I need to stick to it.
