Due to some scar tissue after an upper eyelid blepharoplasty in 2004, a surgeon weakened the eyelid muscle in my right eyelid a bit in order to ease the contracted stare in that eye and enable it to close better. This worked very well, and the eyelid feels comfortable and closes better, but not quite all the way. I have developed some ptosis in that one eye recently. Is there a ptosis correction possible that would not shorten the eyelid and lead to more retraction?
I had an unsuccessful levator advancement surgery 4 weeks ago and this surgery did not improve my lid at all and my lid is as droopy as before. Surgeon wanted to do revision now because most of the swelling has gone down. Should I get revision now before a lot of scar tissue start forming or should I wait 3 to 6 months to heal completely first then do revision?
Born with congenital ptosis and jaw winking syndrome in my left eye. Nine years ago I had a ptosis repair. The surgery was not done well & left me with a large scar & still droopy. A year ago I went in to repair this the surgeon told me all I would need was ONLY a blepharoplasty to remove the scar. I am now even more asymmetrical than before. Im worried nothing can be done because the amount of puffiness, scar tissue, & lack of skin left(Im 22) but Im desperate. I cant live with this.
I'm concerned about developing ptosis in my healthy right eye if I have surgery. Even if the eye drop test reveals no latent ptosis in the right eye surprises are still possible. How common is this complication and how do surgeons generally handle it? Also, if my ptosis is subtle could it be better to wait until I'm older when it's much more obvious if each successive correction adds scar tissue and makes future corrections harder? This is one of the more difficult surgeries to perform.
My right eyelid is oddly shaped. It was re-operated on two months after surgery because of scar issue retracted the eyelash line into a peak. But now I have a peak in the eyelid. It is very tight o the eyelid and sticks to my eyeball all day causing pain. Dr. put plugs in saying that dry eye is the problem. There is no improvement. The original surgery was oddly sewn from the beginning and I questioned Dr. about it. Dr. claims I have an almost perfect result. I do not agree. What can I do?
