I'm 73 years old & healthy. I weighed 200+ pounds for ~25 years, but after 2 knee replacements and 2 lumbar rhizotomies, I can exercise! Eating less & walking 2 miles/day, I've easily lost a pound a week for a year, from 230 to 180. Goal 130. Prolapsed vagina means possible hysterectomy, through the abdominal wall due to adhesions. I hope for hysterectomy + panniculectomy. If I develop another big pannus, could a 2nd panniculectomy be done, or should I wait until I get down to 130 pounds?
I'm nearly 74. By age 75, I expect to have lost nearly 100 lbs & kept it off 6 months. Two questions: 1) Assuming I remain healthy and active, could I have a panniculectomy at age 75? 2) I've just been diagnosed with bradycardia (no other heart issues according to my doctor), and will soon wear a Holter monitor for a while. If I need a pacemaker, might that disqualify me for a panniculectomy? I have no other medical issues apart from arthritis and restless legs syndrome.
I cant find a surgeon that will just do a panniculectomy without also doing a tummy tuck. I have Medicare which only covers a panniculectomy. The cost of the tummy tuck is prohibitive for me. Any suggestions? I have Medicare and tricare .
