I am age 45 and have struggled with my weight my entire life. I am 165cm and my BMI is 31-32. I am athletic (soccer, CrossFit, skiing, running) with good nutrition, but this is not a case of having muscle to skew the BMI as the fat is there as well. The only times I could keep my weight down to BMI 25 is when a doc gave appetite suppressants and I kept a very low caloric intake of <600 a day. I do have PCOS and at risk for diabetes / hbp etc. Am I a candidate for gastric sleeve or bypass sleeve?
Hi, white female turning 49 this year. Im just under 5'5' and weigh around 188lbs. I have hypertension and take losartan 100mg and Hctz 50 mg to control my blood pressure and im worried about becoming diabetic as well. Ive also had acl surgery about 6 years ago and finding the weight is really affecting my ability to hike due to that knee and now the ankle being affected. Ive always fluctuated with weight my lowest weight in the last 5yeaar 160lbs. Is this surgery even appropriate
I am 48 years old and have spent my entire life yo-yo dieting. I have developed Fibromyalgia (?), vitamin and hormone deficiencies, and although I've been active in the past, I can't seem to push myself like I used to. The result is I'm gaining weight rapidly. Already up to 170 at 5'3. I feel as though I'm moving through wet cement with all this extra weight. I'm so tired of losing only to regain. However, this time, I can't seem to move enough to lose at all. Am I even a candidate for VSG?
I am 54 years old. I am 5'7. When I started the process in August I weighed 260. I have lost 30 pounds while waiting for my surgery so I do believe the sleeve will be the best for weight loss but worried about the GERD. I am getting ready to have gastric sleeve but I am confused since most of what I read states if I have GERD I should have RNY. I have GERD but my wants to do the Sleeve.
My BMI is 32 but I have severe knee and hip and foot pain. And of course all the other issues with being FAT. I have tried everything to lose the weight. I want to be active again but just can't with my weight. I am 53. I have contemplated this for a year and what is holding me back most is whether or not it is appropriate for me to take this drastic step. I am planning on having it done in Mexicothe screening isn't great, so I need someone to tell me this is not an insane idea.
I am 46 years old, my current weight is 262lbs., I was recently diagnosed with Pre-Diabetes, I have sleep apnea, and I have at least one episode of diverticulitis a year. I don't believe that my insurance have all on my medical records since the decision was based on a doctor who saw me once and was only aware of my weight and pre-diabetes. (Just switched physicians). Can I request that my case be reevaluated?
