I had a facelift 6 months ago. Since then, gradually, this skin under the sides of my chin has gotten looser. It looks very unappealing. I spoke to my surgeon who insisted that it looked better than before so I should be fine. Eventually, he said he could tighten the skin by making incision under my chin. I am reluctant to do that. What are my options? Should I have the revision?
I had a lower face neck/face lift 9 months ago. Initially it looked beautiful, but after 4 months I started noticing a lot more fullness and loose skin under my neck. I am hoping for a revision and will be seeing my surgeon soon. Can you tell what went wrong and what would be needed to correct my situation. Its disheartening to have not so favorable results when the Dr. I chose has a good reputation and great reviews.
I had a deep plane facelift and necklift 12 mos ago. There was some tightening in the neck and a little in the jowels, but I still have a lot of laxity around my mouth/jowels. I went to a double-board certified Beverly Hills surgeon, so I expected to have a taut, sag-free face. Is the midface addressed in a deep plane facelift and should this area be tighter? What are options to correct this? A revision deep plane facelift? A midface lift? Other? What is an acceptable resolution with the surgeon
Why loose rather than tight? Have had two facelifts in my life. The first was exactly as I had been told to expect, taut and no extra skin, but the second had so much loose skin that the compression bandage dug into it and left creases on my face. Both surgeons were experienced and reputable; cannot figure out why it was considered acceptable that, after a lift, you could still pull up all this loose skin with your fingers, in order for it to be taut. Is every lift so different or was the 2nd one not done correctly?
My facelift was October 2021. Ive been back for two revisions. I have a third one scheduled on the 14th. Im given sleeping pills but Im still awake and some shots but I can feel everything and Im pushing the doctors hands away and in excruciating pain, I dont think he can fix the loose baggy skin under my chin but he wants to keep trying. I think I need a whole facelift not just a revision. What do you think? Thank you.
I feel that the platysma bands are showing (more than pre-surgery) & that there is still some loose skin under chin (I had corset platysmaplasty & full FL/NL 7 months ago). Many surgeons on realself seem to say that this is a relatively common result, and that a touch-up procedure will correct it. However, I am worried that my board-certified surgeon thinks I am being neurotic (I am rational & polite) and will refuse to do the corrective procedure. Under what circumstances would he refuse?
The revision my PS has suggested would be to make a longer incision from under my chin and along to the jowl area, where a little fat may be removed, and then the skin would be lifted and the surplus skin cut away before being pulled together and sutured. This I am told by the PS will leave noticeable scarring along my neck and concerns me. I would be grateful to hear of any other options which would not leave noticeable scars? I am now 13 months since lower face and neck lift surgery!
Doctor says that facelifts typically last at least 5 years but that my skin has a propensity to sag. (Note: My weight is normal.) I don't have as much loose skin as before the facelift, but the Doctor says there is enough sagging to warrant a second facelift. How common and acceptable is it to perform a second facelift so soon? Is it possible that the results of second facelift will last longer than the first one? I am disappointed that it didn't last longer.Updated on April 10, 2016:I had the first facelift at age 48 in March 2012. It was an SMAS facelift, treating mainly the jowls and cheeks, no platysma. I do not have any medical condition. Doctor said a lot of loose skin was removed, much more than he sees in a typical patient....I repeated the facelift in December 2013 with the same Doctor. The Doctor agreed that facelifts typically last 7-10 years. But he said that my skin has much more skin laxity than the average patient. (I do not have any medical condition to cause laxity)...He said that a lot of loose skin was also removed on the second facelift, about 3/4 as much as the first lift... He also cautioned that it may last only 2 years due to my skin laxity...I consulted a second opinion immediately after second facelift. The second Doctor knows the first Doctor and he indicated that there was no mistake likely made as the Doctor was trained in SMAS lift. And while it is unusual to repeat facelift so soon, it sometimes happens as people age differently.2 years out from the second facelift, the results looks to be holding up slightly better than first facelift, but the jowls/cheeks have still sagged noticeably compared to 1 year post-op.
I had a facelift last October. I couldnt tell a difference so my doctor did an additional procedure in his office. Now I have a hanging, lumpy, neck. I look worse than when I started. I sent pictures to his office and he wants me to come in for a Kenalog injection. It doesnt feel like fat at all. It feels like loose skin and the center is attached under my chin so it looks like little pillows in each side. Im losing faith in my doctor and dont know if he knows what hes doing anymore.
I had a full SMAS FL/NL , upper and lower BL and platy March 29, 2022. I paid 24k... Feeling like my Dr missed multiple marks?? Loose skin, lids hanging and ridges and bumps under jaw?? He is willing to revision using same technique... No stitches up from ear into hairline, just staples. This is not a good , acceptable result correct? Dr's what are your thoughts.... So disappointing
