I had root canal done on tooth 12,13 more than 7years ago. I was recently referred for Apicoectomy on 13. The doctor is saying that procedure of Apicoectomy is not worth it to just extract tooth and implant. Should I continue to look for a second opinion or just go with extraction and implant, Cost plays a big factor on why Im trying to get the Apicoectomy. Also being that Im not ready to extract tooth.
About 5 or 6 years ago i had an apicoectomy done but now the same tooth has been infected again. Now the question is, is it worth to try another apicoectomy treatment and save the tooth or get the tooth extracted and get an implant, i really cannot decide what to do, i am only 28 years old.
In high school I was elbowed in the mouth, knocking #10 loose. It tightened back up, but eventually started to die so a root canal was needed.Fast forward 10 years latersame tooth started to bother me again.I had an apicoectomy donelasted 2 years. Its now started to bother me again. My endodontist told me he could a)try another apicoectomy treatment or b)could go straight to an implant.I am only 28should I give up and go straight to implant or try to prolong life of this tooth as long as I can?
I had a root canal in tooth #3 15 years ago, there was a shadow above it and the dentist was watching it because I was asymptomatic until now. I was just on a course of antibiotics for an abcess. I saw the endodontist who said he could do an apicoectomy but also said I had extensive bone loss which was seen on CT scan. Is the apico even worth it? Should I even try to save this tooth or just have it pulled? Either was I am going to have to pay for the graft.
Its 8 days since apico on 21. Looks like it didnt work coz I have the same severe trobbing pulsating pain as before the operation. I got 2nd pack of antibiotics even though on x-ray it looks good, told me to wait 1 more week and if pain is still there, he wants to pull out the tooth. I went for 2nd opinion, and they said based on CT scan it looks like there is still lesion at the back of the root. Can I redo the apicoectomy now? X-ray before apico attached for idea, i dont have one after.
In may this year I had RTC done on 21 due to trauma (half tooth got broken). The tooth was overfilled with GP and I got inflamation. GP was removed but the lesion is still there and its very painful. I had several temporary fillings since then, but tooth is still painful. Dentist is suggesting Apicoectomy. Will it help or shall I remove the tooth and go for implant. Looks like there is not much bone left. Thank you!
Front tooth was taken out over a year. Had two apicetomys and was infected. Tooth next to it also has had apicetomy. Implant fitted a year ago but four months after a painful spot came up. Crown removed but told implant was fine. Had bone graft and plan to try again next month. Am concerned it will fail again as I have had infection in my mouth wonder if has gone. Don't want to go through anymore painfull procedure for same result. Please could you give me your opinion. Thanks.
Got an apicoectomy on lateral incisor 4 years ago due to a big apical abcess. Initial cause still unknown, supposing it's teeth grinding during the night that might cause the tooth's pulp death. First apicoectomy failed, maybe bad root canal work or residual bacterias, infection is back. Should I go for another apicoectomy to try to save the tooth or expand its life with several years? Or should I go for an extraction and implant? Note the bone loss from CT and the length of remaining root.
Hi, I had a root canal for tooth # 30 few years ago. 6 months ago, I noticed pain and Xray showed infection. Endodentist claimed there might be a missing root and recommended RCT re-treatment. 3 months after retreatment, pain returned and the attached Xray shows no improvemt. my question: is there any chance for it to heal by itself? I mean shall I leave it as it is and take a course of antibiotic once in a while? or save my time and proceed to Apiceotomy or maybe dental implant? Thank you
I've had 3 apicoectomy on the tooth#7. The 1st apico due to an infection and a cyst at the tip after years of root canal. The endodontist cleaned the area without treating the hole where the cyst was. 7 yrs later, 2nd apico was done due to reinfection. Another 7 ys and it failed again. This time an oral surgeon did bone graft (cow?). More tip was cut off at infected area. Now, 8 years later, it feels a little funny again. Is implant my only option? I am worried because it's a front tooth.
