I had a root canal in tooth #3 15 years ago, there was a shadow above it and the dentist was watching it because I was asymptomatic until now. I was just on a course of antibiotics for an abcess. I saw the endodontist who said he could do an apicoectomy but also said I had extensive bone loss which was seen on CT scan. Is the apico even worth it? Should I even try to save this tooth or just have it pulled? Either was I am going to have to pay for the graft.

Usually after seating a crown there should not be throbbing pain and if there is any pain it’s usually minor discomfort from the gums for a few days. Please go back ASAP to the dentist to take an x-ray, check the bite and figure out the source of the pain.
