I had veneers done on my two front teeth about 14 years ago. One of them has shifted leaving a gap between my teeth and I can see a spot at the top which looks like the cement possibly? I went to a dentist to have them replaced and they are telling me I have bone loss and cannot get them redone. They want me to get a 6 unit bridge which honestly is terrifying. Is is true that I cannot get them redone if I have some bone loss? I don't know if I should get a second opinion. Thank you.
I was born without an adult tooth on my lower 2nd premolar that has had a crown on it for many years. I have some bone loss now and the tooth may need to be pulled. Is an implant my only option or would a bridge be able to take care of this? I know an implant is the best option but its very expensive
30 yr old 3 tooth bridge —#28 to 30 removed for decay under #30. Little structure left; the root is dying. Implant #30 ok; cap #28 ok. #28 under needs yr of grafting. I need to go on Fosamax ASAP. Was told the new bridge on #29 w/root canal will be unstable, hard to keep clean--alarming for jaw necrosis. Any creative ideas for filing #28 space soon--1-tooth denture, mini-implant w denture, kill #29 for the implant to implant bridge, some new technique? No dentist wants to touch this-suggests another technique.
I had tooth 9 removed due to a fracture from the root. Plan was to remove tooth and root for an implant but the root wouldn't come out. My dentist was going to do a bridge but a 2nd option said to get the root out and bone graft for an implant. Round 1 of bone grafting. 3 months later I was told I didn't get enough bone and round two of bone grafting. Now I've waited 6 more months and was just told again that it's not enough bone. I'm now in the middle of doing a bridge or getting a block graft
I understand that, when teeth are lost, bone loss occurs (causing changes in the appearance of the face/jaw) -- and that adjacent or opposing teeth may shift position. Do dramatic changes in the look of the face occur when it's just one missing tooth (e.g., a lower molar)? If an implant is not an option, will a bridge at least stop teeth from shifting? I may not be a good candidate for an implant for various reasons, but I'm scared of how a missing molar may change the way my face looks. Thank you
I'm 56yrs old w/ Osteopenia. Old bridge 15+ yrs Will a bridged or implants cease the bone loss & gum recession ? Currently the chipped bridge does not sit on my gum & big gap. In addition my gum is collapsed inward. Will the bridge look funny bc my gum is super receded?
Hello I have missing teeth 7,8,9 and 10. I thought I was getting individual implants but my dentist advised a 4 tooth bridge supported by 2 implants would be better. Would my hygiene be affected? Won't I have bone loss if I don't put individual implants? He said if I put four implants, the biologic width could be violated? Please help!
