Hello, I've had this issue since early 20s. I thought it was just a double chin but even after losing 60 pounds, it's still greatly noticeable. When I contract my platysma, these bands pop up. Especially the middle one that contributes to my turkey neck/double chin look. This double chin looks different, very deflated and minimizes the definition of a jawline. Would botox be more of what I need before considering aggressive procedures? Or is it just stubborn fat?
I have read contradicting research/information about the Platysmal muscles and whether it needs to be strengthened or relaxed in order to improve over facial/skin tone/appearancecomplete opposite info. My story: I went to a highly recommended injector to inquir about Dao and Platysmal Botox for lifting of the midface. I now feel that instead of a lift, I have less volume in lower faceand my neck (that I had no issues with before) now has loose skin and exaggerated banding. Why is Botox used?
Two weeks ago, I had 20-25 ml injections into each of my platysmal Bands. The syringe had up to 70 ml. I do not know the difference between a Botox unit vs millimeters. The procedure did not work. How long should I wait to repeat the process, and how much Botox in ml should be given? I appreciate your time and consideration. Thanks.
I have both platysmal banding and some loose skin (no fat) directly under my chin. However when I have botox done in the two front platysmal bands, the bands soften BUT the loose skin hangs more when the platysma weakens. But I know others who get it done and that doesn't happen. Just want to know why? A neck lift is in my near future. The downtime is the only thing holding me back.
She told me the central bands serve an important function to hold my head up so would only do 25 units on each side of my neck but unfortunately it has not improved the lines I hate the most in the middle. It has also meant I am struggling to lift my neck for abdominal exercises in my Pilates class. I would love a second opinion on what I could do differently in the future.
Why do older individuals get a lip and jowl lift from botox to DAO muscle and platysma lift corners of mouth and jowls? Do these muscles that depress the lower face become more active as people age? Do these muscles become stronger than the muscles that elevate the mouth and jaw? Trying to understand why the mouth corners turn down with age.
Im considering getting Botox in my DAO and platysma muscles because I feel my mouth pulling down on the sides and my family members have really droopy mouth corners as they age. Im worried because I heard anything below the eye is harder to predict with Botox. Will injecting into the DAO cause significant atrophy of the Modiolus or give me weird mouth movements over time if my overall orbicularis is weaken?
I had 2 small vertical platysmal bands underneath my chin. Botox was injected by my cosmetic dermatologist -days after the bands became exaggerated. Now they are noticeable looking at me head on whereas before I would have to look upwards to see them. I went back and he injected more Botox directly into the bands and surrounding areas. It's been over a month . I'm 37. I want to know if my neck will return to its pre-Botox state after it wears off? Could this have caused permanent damage? .
I have prominent vertical neck bands, which I believe are also called platysma bands. My dermatologist recommended botox and SkinTyte. I had botox injections a week ago but haven't noticed any improvement. Should I have noticed a difference by now or does it take longer for the botox to have an effect? And, will SkinTyte be helpful? I don't want to spend the $$ if there's no improvement. Thank you. These photos were taken one week after the botox injections. Sorry, but I don't have a before photo.
