Is it too late for a crown following a root canal on a molar 1.5 years ago?

I had a root canal on a molar about 1-1&1/2 years ago but never got a crown. Does it need to be extracted now or is crown still an option? There’s a hole where the filling fell out but the tooth isn’t cracked or fractured.
