Small dent after Kenalog 10 injection? (Photo)

Question

I’m about 6 months post-op and have been receiving k10 injections every 3ish months as advised by my surgeon. about 3 weeks ago, i received another k10 shot and now notice a small dent in my nose. is this a permanent dent? will my body naturally correct it in a few months?

Hello and thank you for your question. Kenalog injections can take weeks to months to take full effect, especially since surgeons begin with very small doses and strengths. The area towards the tip of the nose holds onto swelling the longest too, so some patience is required. But to better address your concerns, I recommend an in-person consultation with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon to get a more accurate assessment. If you still have the dent after a few months, your surgeon may recommend fillers to even out your nose bridge. However, only a skilled and experienced surgeon can deliver the safest and best possible outcome.

Thank you for your question. Chances are that this dent will not fill in on it's own. If you wish to correct it, it can be done with filler, fat transfer or a small cartilage graft. I wish you all the best.

In our experience, skin indentations after Kenalog may improve on their own within two months after injection. If skin atrophy and indentation persists, we may use a drop of Silikon1000 as a permanent fill. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

Dent in the nose after Kenalog Injection: Kenalog is a steroid which is frequently injected after rhinoplasty, particularly in the supratip area, to reduce scar issue and swelling. I have found over the years that Kenalog has a two phase action. It tends to diminish score tissue and swelling with peak effect at 3 to 4 weeks and then have a partially diminishing effect over the next 3 to 4 weeks. It’s like taking five steps forward then two steps backward. The net three steps forward will be permanent. However at the stage you are right now at three weeks some of the indentation is likely to disappear over the next three weeks . Since the dent in your picture seems very minor, a slight regression is all you need. A very slight indentation above the tip sets the tip apart from the bridge which is usually considered a desirable feature however more so in women than men.

If still present at 3 months post last K 10 injection then try HA filler to een out. Fees in $700-$1,000 ranges. Best to ask injecting MD.
