Can lip lift fix my lip incompetence? (Photo)

Question

I’ve had a lip incompetence I’m self conscious of. I’ve had a chin implant for 15 years , which I removed and did a sliding genioplasty 2 years ago. I had braces as a kid and recently wrapping up braces to fix am open bite. The hope was the SG and braces would fix my lip incompetence. But my lips still can’t seal together at rest. Can a lip lift help ? I notice the space between my nose and lips is quite much as well. Can anything else help with my lip incompetence ?

I think you need a consultation to go over expectations. you can do fillers and morpheus and threads for long term non invasive options; lip lift, face lift for long term surgical improvement. plasma pen can be used as well to help lift the lips slightly, dermarolling should be done weekly at home (see link). seek an expert. A lip lift is typically performed on the upper lip to shorten the vertical length of the upper lip. In your case, this may actually worsen your lips closure incompetence as your upper lip will sit even higher at rest. You may have vertical maxillary excess (excessive bone height in upper jaw) contributing to lip incompetence. A thorough exam with a maxillofacial surgeon can help determine your diagnosis and best treatment options.
