Can a mini tummy tuck be safely performed at the same time as a hysterectomy due to endometriosis? (photo)

I agree that a mini TT will likely be ok however you would need to find a good team of gynecologist and plastic surgeon to pull this off.  Unfortunately the unpredictable part would be the gynecology component- that surgery may take a while and to have a plastic surgeon on "standby" waiting for that to finish can get costly.  Best Wishes!!

Thank you for your questions.Your medical history is quite impressive "I have a (Homozygous Leiden) clotting disorder...2 C-sections and ". significant endometriosis & adhesions with the Bladder ..fused to my uterus ... and abdominal muscles are damaged extensively from pregnancies & multiple surgeries". Having had 2 pregnancies HIGHLY suggests your abdominal muscles have been greatly stretched and you admit they are "damaged extensively". A "mini" tummy tuck is incapable of being combined with an extensive muscle repair which would probably be required in YOUR case. Instead, a formal Full Abdominoplasty is probably the safe answer without examining you.But - the real question is would the Tummy Tuck be safe to be performed at the same time as your hysterectomy. The fact that your bladder is scarred to the uterus implies the surgery will NOT be straight forward and that in the process of separating the uterus the bowel and bladder may be damaged. That would automatically abort a planned abdominoplasty since no surgeon would piggy back his tummy tuck during a "contaminated" case.If this was not enough, you Leiden status GREATLY increases your risk for blood clots in the deep veins (DVT) and possible fatal clots going to the lungs. The risk grows greater with operations over 3 hours. So - if I were related to you, I would greatly advise you to separate the operations as well as consider placing a reversible Vena Cava filter BEFORE the operations to reduce the likelihood of fatal blood clots to the lungs.  I would greatly advise you also to get the BEST possible muscle tightening which is achievable with a Full Tummy Tuck.Good Luck,Peter Aldea, MDMemphis, TN
