Breast Implant moving 3 years postop - what could this be?

I got implants in May 2019. Everything went great and I’ve had no issues since then . 3 weeks ago I suddenly could feel my right breast implant moving and I’ve never felt anything like it before. I’m so aware of it when stretching, laying on my side, etc. it almost feels not part of my body anymore. No change in look or feeling. I went to my surgeon and got no answer except that it’s definitely not leaking or capsular contracture. It’s so uncomfortable and I just want to know what it could be.

This can happen over time. It sounds like your surgeon did the right thing checking you out to make sure there was nothing serious going on with your implants. Sometimes they move a bit but are not a problem.

Based on what you describe in your question, further investigation is warranted. My recommendation would be to obtain an ultrasound first to enable a look at the implant, the muscle, and the capsule. Once this is complete, and based on the results, we can determine the next steps.

Your implant may be pressing on a small sensory nerve and causing some discomfort. At one point, you may have torn the capsule some and exposed this little nerve more to the implant, or just tore the capsule somewhat and it will heal.  It should slowly improve with time on its own.
