Thank you for your question. I'm not sure what vein procedure you had done. Some surgeons would say okay to getting back to work.Medium, graduated compression in the range of 20-30 mmHg is recommended for 2-3 days after sclerotherapy and laser vein treatment. To prevent the recurrence and for prevention of new veins, long term compression is recommended, especially if you have a job that keeps you on your feet a lot, like serving. To be sure, ask your doctor specifically what he/she recommends.I hope this helps.
Post procedure (VNUS Closure, EVLT Never Touch, ClariVein) we ask patients to wear an ace bandage and remove the following day. You can work immediately after the ablation procedures. You can resume ALL activitis except weight lifting at the gym for 72 hours or until you return for a follow-up scan. You can do EVERYTHING physically after microphlebectomy and sclerotherapy.
It is safe to work as a server. Compression stockings appropriate to wear after a "vein procedure" should be in general of pressure exceeding pressure in the treated vein. Depending on the vein treated, such pressure is usually in a range of 20 to 30 mm Hg. Stockings with pressure 15 to 20 mm Hg, therefore, are inaproprate.
I encourage my patients to get back to normal activities as soon as possible following vein procedures. You do not state what procedure you had but for laser ablation, microphlebectomies and sclerotherapy I want them to resume all normal activities as soon as possible. Following these procedures I also would like support stockings worn or 48 to 72 hours.
