Hi @kirstn007! It all depends on where you are getting surgery. If you are getting surgery on your face, I would avoid doing a microneedling treatment before. Typically, you should be healed 7 days after a microneedling treatment.
Thank you for your question in regards to microneedling. Depending on what type of surgery you are having will depend on if microneedling is safe to have prior to your surgery date. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.
if you have downtime to microneeling with cosmelan or enlighten (we can send this to you at home with skincare!). I suggest seeing an expert we do free skincare consults. Best, Dr. Emer.
It depends where you are getting surgery. If you are getting surgery on your face, I would recommend waiting to do microneedling until after you have recovered. Microneedling patients are generally fully healed before seven days, but with the inflammation that accompanies most facial surgery I would not risk irritating your face beforehand. If your surgery is elsewhere on the body, microneedling on the face seven days before surgery should be fine.
It depends on what kind of procedure you're getting but in general the healing time for micro needling is less than seven days. If you do the micro needling with PRP you can significantly cut down on the healing time. Best of luck!
